Prayers Thoughts & well wishes are needed for Rick Martin. He is in ICU with his body full of infection & we almost lost him last nite, Sunday evening. The ER doctor said he could not of made it to this AM .Rick has had some surgey several weeks ago and it has been an up hill battle for him since then. What he did this past week is what a lot of us do & put it off till tomorow and sometimes that is too long before we give up & seek help. One good example is myself this spring ,but I have learned my lesson. He is scueled for gull bladder surgey Tuesday at noon ,since he has no family, my wife & I & several other y-blockers inc. Bob Martin are going to be there for him before he goes in and when he comes out of surgery. We seen him today & he was worried. He is going to be in the hosiptal several days not because of his operation but to get his body cleaned out. It would help if a few people could some him some car relaated cards to help cheer him up Fort Hamilton Hospital 630 Eaton Ave. Hamilton Ohio 45013 @ Richard Martin 513-867-2000 Note after John F. and Jerry C ,Rick Martin was the third person to make up The first Y-Block geathering At Coulmbus Ohio about 15 + years ago Harry Hutten

My prayers go out to Rick. All my Y friends' prayers have pulled me though my recent surgery, and now they need to help Rick. I was thinking the other day, we have at least a couple of "men of the cloth" in our group, Dan the "Hot Rod Reverend" and "Y block 32 deuce". It's like we have our own unofficial chaplains. Get well soon, Rick.

After 2 + hours cut him open operation Rick is still with us. Dr. told us serious but gaurded condition. The next few days are going to tough. The reason for the long Gull Blader operation is there was a lot of infection to clean out. Dr said not to worry about his perferated bowel , because if things don`t clear up the bowel won`t matter and I think we know what that means. Rick was not in good sprits this AM so I hope he gets a lot of car realted cards or talk about Lincolns Will keep everyone posted Thanks Harry

Just got off the phone with Rick and he's in a lot of pain at this time. He said he just lost his mother and so he's really hurting on two ends, the operation for one and real hard from the loss of his mother. He thinks he'll be in for a week to a week and a half before they'll release him. Keep praying and he wants to thank everyone for keeping him in their prayers.

Up Date Seen Rick today. He was moved to a private room today as he don`t need constant montering. He is very sore and not aloud food as they are watching his perferated bowel which is causing all his infection & almost done him.WE talked Y-Block & cars most of the time. One more thing when it rains it pours . Ricks mother passed away this morning. SAD SAD SAD she was in ICU 4 beds away from him last nite and they wheeled him down to see her one more time & the ICU docter came in early this morning to tell him she passed. His room phone# is 513-867-2703 he seemed to be glad to get phone calls,he speaks very low because his mouth is dry. he is getting no food or drink for a few days, but he talked to barb & I all thetime we were there. 2pm 7/9/2013 Just returned from a visit with Rick & he said Dr. may let him go home tomorow .He has been making slow forward progress but he has a rough road ahead of him. For starters imagine going home were you left your only family member, your mother , but instead of her being in her hospital bed you go to grave site services. He will talk cars and my racing when I`am at hospital ,but I don`t how he is going to be when he gets home. We are going to help him any way we can, but that only goes so far. If you have his phone # give him a day or two & he may want to start to get back to some form of normal. As far as email I `am not sure on that. He is thankfull for all the thought and prayers. Spoke with Rick yesterday.
He was out in the garage messin around.
Said he runs outta steam fast but he just has to build back up.
Talked Mercury stuff for a while.
It was good to speak to him.I let him know everybody on the Forum was pulling for him.
He was appreciative of that

I got a small package in the mail from Rick with a short note. The package required him to go to the post office to mail it. That's a good sign, I think. His note stated that he had a rough couple of months, and said he felt I had a couple of them too. I think his months were much worse than mine.
