I'm looking for a Mustang non-power box with the 1 1/8" sector shaft. Mine is 2.5" long. Anybody got one in their pile? Chuck

Chuck, I don't have one, but I maybe able to pick one up for you. There is a large mustang only salvage yard about 20 miles from me.

If you get a chance to check them out. I'm looking for the manual type box for 67-70 for my non-Ford toy. It has one in it now but the adjusting screw is below the jamb nut. I think it may be worn out. I can get a rebuilt for about $200 but delivery is in months! Chuck

Hey Chuck,
If Glen can't help you and if a '63 Falcon Sprint is the same we could probably get together. Send me a pic of what you have to see if the Falcon piece is the same.

Off the subject, but does anybody know what size the splines are on the 57 Ford box. Will the arm interchange?

This is the box. Not sure about the Falcon ones. Chuck

Sorry Chuck, no joy from Louisville on your steering box quest. The older Falcon is very different

Doug the falcons did not use a rag joint like the 67 up mustangs. The larger fords started using rag joints in 63, in fact I have a 63 big ford box in my falcon, also have one in the 57 custom that I'm working on. Chuck I'll try to get down there in the next few days and see what they have. I know they ship world wide so if they have something, I'll let you know.

Glen, What's involved in using the 63 box in the 57. We can move this to Tech if you want. I'm considering using a newer box with a rag joint in my own car.

Frank, the 63/64 box will bolt in using orginal bolt holes, you will need a box with manual steering or replace the pittman arm with one from a manual box. I made up my colume using a shaft from a 63 merc and shift collar and cover from a 71 f100. I kept the F100 wheel and turn signal switch. If I can get my camera working again, I post some pictures.
