This set was on a Country Squire, 4bbl, dual exhaust, automatic, 272. The car has sat for 30 or more years. Heads didnt have any water or coolant in combustion chambers when removed. Engine is a standard bore. Heads do not appear to have had a previous service.

They have been cleaned enough to have the chambers bead blasted. No cracks can be seen. All threads good. Free from pitting. Seats arent sunken. The engine had 92,000 miles.

The ECG-C bumped up compression in '55 helping the power pak option to deliver 182 HP.

$150 plus shipping.

Did you see in your picture #3 that the casting on your head is an ELC -C ?

Same compression as the ECG - C head.

Didnt know if there may have been two casting numbers on that ECL head ?

Oldmics, Yes I saw the ECL-C. Dont have an explanation for it either. The ECG C designation is clear, on the outside underneath where the exhaust manifold mounts. So I guess the answer is yes, there are two casting numbers. I'll look at both heads again to see if each one has dual casting numbers. Also plan to cc one of the chambers.

Each head has the ECL C on the deck side, and ECG C on the outside.
