Never thought it would happen to me since there were no oil pump failures in the history of my family.
I was having some chest pains and called my doctor, they said call 911 right away, I said no that is okay I can drive to the hospital, they said don't I dare so I said I would call my brother so he came and picked me up and drove me to the hospital, I walked in and told them what was happening, they checked me with an EKG and before I knew it I was off to another hospital with lights and sirens going just a couple miles away. As they were rolling me
Into the operating room nurses were already starting to shave my groin area, before I knew it I was recuperating in ICU with my collapsed oil pump tube opened back up with a stint, they say on a scale of 100 it's serousness was a 95
Glad I caught it when I did but I did let the pain go a couple days and it did some damage, now a few days recuperating in the hospital.

Glad to hear that you made that phone call and relented on NOT driving yourself to the hospital...

The years slip by and often we tend to view ourselves as ... not aging. -I'm finding that it can sort of sneak up on you...

Recently, I lifted a stripped y engine block and said to myself, 'you're not a kid anymore, charlie brown...'

The doc's got me taking a full aspirin a day since I had a carotid artery done nine years ago...

Take care of yourself, Billy. -Like Karol Miller, you've got a lot more miles to travel! Smile

We're pulling for a fast recovery and repair of any damage you incurred!

Regards,

Hey Bill cut that out! You have too many things left to do. Take the time to get well, your life is more important than anything else. Chuck

Billy, i think most of us live with that fear every day, i know i do and constant deaths from heart attacks reminds us all. Last week a much loved community policeman walked into work and dropped dead, a massive loss to everyone that knew him! We know hoosier is due for tuneup next week and wish you both speedy recoveries. Smile

Bill:

Glad you caught the problem when you did and received the proper care. I've been told a stent is not an option for me, surgery is my only option. Hope you recover well and quickly. I'm praying for you.

After I turned 60 I now go to the doctor every 3mo. and a complete physical once a year. Its amazing what they can catch before it gets out of hand. The low dose asprin is a good program for most of us gray hairs. Everyone should take note of John and Billys experances and have a check-up.

Strange how this works, you couldn't stop either of these guys with a shotgun, yet they both had blocked arteries. Makes me wonder.

Might not be the best thing after a heart procedure.

Bill

Glad to hear you are on the mend .It must be the year for it ???Darryl had the same thing happen to him a month ago .Was having a few chest pains for about two or three weeks & thought it was heart burn or just something he ate ??Went to his local doctor ,rushed to hospital & had 3 heart attacks while he was in the waiting room .Woke up on the operating table while they were putting in 2 stints. Total of 10 days in hospital and another 2 stints . He was told by the doctor he was lucky he didn't wait any longer ,otherwise that would have been the end !!!!!!!!!Lynne & I were only talking about you today .How Brad & I picked you up at the hotel & we were the first Y-Blockers you had met . Your thoughts and prayers are with you .Take care .

Are you home Yet?
By Y block Billy - 11 Years Ago
Yes, I am home and back working in my shop, light duty though, changing distributors, carbs, however I did have to strip a 361 to sell the short block so my brother who is 10 1/2 years older has to do all the heavy lifting of heads etc. LOL (Hope I dont drive him to a heart attack) I just run the impact gun!

Billy. Glad to hear you're doing good and back at home. Continue to heed the Doctor's advice and take it easy. I know how easy it is to get back into that old routine. I'm assuming you've quit smoking for the time being?
