There was a thread discussing some of this about 4 years ago, but I thought it would be better to start a new thread. George Chaltin was one of the very successful 57 Ford drag racers. He raced primarily, as far as I know, in the Northern IL, IN, WI tracks and of course the NHRA National Championships, which he won 2 or 3 times. His Skyliner ran low 15's to mid 14's. He also turned some high 13's. I have a picture I am attaching, thanks to Frank Stubb's the current owner of the car. This picture was taken in 1959. I have another picture taken in 1996 of George with about 100+ trophies, many of them huge. I was out of drag racing from about 1965 to 1980, so I don't have any first hand knowledge of that period, and wonder if some of you remember. One thing I heard was that George had a 427 Comet. He probably won a lot of those trophies after this picture taken in 1959. I think he won the Nationals in 59 and 61. I saw George at the Indy Nationals in 1963. He was racing a yellow and white 57 Fairlane at that time.

I have some additional information on Chaltin's Skyliner and am trying to obtain more. I wrote a letter to Chaltin, and his wife said that there was information about the Skyliner in the April 2006 Hemmings Muscle Machines. You can go to Hemmings site and pull up articles from many years of the magazine. If you Google Fifty-Seven Ford Fantasies , you can read the article. It also covers Frank and Cathy Stubbs F Code cars.
