Found these two videos while searching for something else. The Y that’s shown was one that was tested at my shop but the 283 F.I. engine that is in the other video was the one that really got my attention.

317Y-Block on the dyno

283 with fuel injection on the dyno

Looks like original mechanical injection. I have a friend with a '62 corvette and fuel injection.

Too bad they didn't pour the coals to it. Couple snaps off idle is a bit lame compared to the Y. Pretty engine though. Chuck

Ya'll did notice that they didn't even bother to post any numbers on the scrub. You think they were hiding something?

For the fuel injected engine,it sounds like they tried to throttle up the engine but it simply would not take the fuel. I’m surprised that particular video was even posted.

If memory serves you needed a manometer, and the service manual to figure out how to tune one. A whole bunch of them wound up in the backs of garages, replaced by quads or single 4bbls.

Smoky said that it was a piece of crap and he never got it to run right. I had a buddy back in the day with a 57 vette that we never could make it run and wound up replacing with a single 4 barrel setup.

My friend, with the '62 'vette has the injection stuff on the shelf and a 4 barrel installed.
