Hi guys.  I’m needing an assortment of secondary jets for the Holley Teapot carbs for the upcoming dual quad dyno test.  I have several extra #73’s but not much else.  Here’s a picture of what the jets look like for those of you that may have some and simply didn’t know what they fit.

My contact info is at www.eatonbalancing.com .

Ted I also have a set of #86 jets which i will send you with the other carb parts. The book i have lists the following size secondary jets for 55 -56 ford #55,#63,#70,#73,#78,#81,#86 Carl

Marv & Carl.  Please send the jets.  If I need something between #73 & #86, I’ll drill some of the extra 73’s I have.  And assuming if I need jets smaller than #73, it looks I’ll have to improvise if nothing shows up in time for the test.

Ted:

I have been known to solder the holes in the jets and re-drill to a smaller size.  Did this back when I was running my dual quad '56.  I talked to a Holley rep at the nationals back in those days, and told him what I was doing.  He said Holley recommends using only a 1/2" drill when drilling jets.  I told him that there would be nothing left.  He said that's what Holley recommends, then buying new ones.  I told him to ship me an assortment of T-pot secondary jets when he got back to the factory.  He told me to keep soldering and drilling.

Ted,

I don't have those secondaries jets but I wanted to point out that the correct secondaries for the 1957 dual quad carbs are 55's. That is what Holley installed in them (ECJ9510AA/AB).

Happy New Year,

John.  Thanks for the soldering tip as that could very well be what takes place.  And what the Holley rep says explains the lack of secondary jets sitting loose now.  I suspect any secondary jets the Ford dealers had in their parts bins went into the trash many decades ago.

Bill.  I have two pair of 1434’s sitting here and they have the stock #55 jets in the secondary sides.  Because the secondary venturies are the same size as the regular Teapots, I’m guessing at this point that it’s more an air bleed thing rather than a dual carb nuance.  About a year ago I did a factory dual quad setup for someone and it was on the lean side.  On that setup, I installed larger secondary jets.  I’ll have a better feel for what some of the other Teapots do as pairs once they are put on a dual quad intake and actually ran.

When I originaly built my dual quad set up in '65-66 I was lucky enough to buy an intake and the special valley cover but no carbs. I dug up a pair of teapots off of a '56 Ford and went from there. Jetted them based on the 1962 Hot Rod Magazine Ford Peformance book. .048 primaries and .055 secondaries. Primarys were no problem. Scrounged through every teapot carb I could find to come up with two sets of .055 secendaries but finaly did find them. Over the years I came up with two sets of the original dual quad carbs. One came off of a '57 passenger car and I am not sure what the other set was. Both sets had the stock jetting for '56 Ford single 4 barrel carbs, not the much leaner jets specified for the dual quads. I still think that the reasons so many people had problems with the dual quad cars could have been that a lot of them came from the factory with the wrong jets. From what I have read here it is apparent that some came out with the right jetting. Human error at Holley?
