Need some help with the supporting stuff. Any suggestions on a good, stout camshaft? I don't have much interest in smooth idling, quiet, or whatever. I pretty much want a snarling, pissed off sound. Looking to make as much power as the old VR58 is capable of, after upgrading the impeller of course. Also, ideas on headers, exhaust, and so on. Rear gear suggestions? I have a T5 5 speed behind my 292 right now, am in the process of building my 312 for this supercharger. All of it will be in my `57 Custom when done. Also, will be looking for a set of 471 heads, or advice on modifying C1TE heads to perform like the 471s...Help, guys, I need it: this is my first Y block build, and my first supercharger.

Seems like you better get in touch with Pat Fleischman.

Jim;

I'm using my old, slow, back-up computer and it's timed out on my twice while trying to respond to you so I'll keep it short. Just curious, is your VR-58 unit a Direct Oil (DO) version plummed to crankcase oil? I had John Erb johnerb@sbcglobal.net modify my VS-57 unit into a short nose (SN-60) version and I'm working with Gord McMillen rexrep@telusplanet.net for the brackets, pulleys, belt, bonnet and lots of instructions. Both of those guys are really up on this stuff and can help you along. One major change I've made is that I will not be using the 2 piece blower pulley, but a one piece billet toothed pulley for the head unit and crank. There are many other changes I've mad and are making. Send me a PM or e-mail and I'll tell you more and send some pictures.

Good Luck,

Rono

Big intercooler and a water/methanol injection at full throttle to keep the intake temp and pinging low.
