I saw Wallys time slips from last saturday at Union Grove Wis. They were a 12:05, 11:94, 11:85 and a pair of 11:83`s. He did a jet change that his engine liked. He ran over 114 mph. Outstanding, (I thought). Had to share this with you guys.

That's a 3300/3400 pound 56 with an unblown, 4 speed, single four bbl. Y-block!!

Greg. Thanks for posting. Wally has that ’56 really running strong. The performance out of that full bodied and full interiored ’56 Ford Mainline has to be really surprising the competition. Here’s a picture of the car at Columbus in 2011. Thanks goes to Tony Paz for this particular pic.

Need? We don't need no stinking superchargers. We just like engines that whir and wheeze! Chuck

Spectacular, steady improvement over several years and the car is still beautiful. Congrats Wally

I wonder what vic Edelbrock would have to say about that?

Nuthin' like a white haired guy rowing a 4 speed into the 11s.
Nice job Wally.
Beautiful restoration on the 56.
I'm beginning to believe you're a decent mechanic too!

An impressive performance in any case! But, please refresh my memory, is Wally's car a non stroker 312 ?

At 114 mph and 3600 lbs car & driver, the Lucas Road and Track "best fit" estimator predicts WallyK is putting out 430 peak flywheel Hp. Nice. Jerome

As I understood from talks at columbus it was stock 312, but there must be something he is not telling us!

I think (careful there) it's a 340" with Mummert heads, and intake. Quick fuel (Holley) carb and a "who knows" cam. He's been knockin' on the 12 sec ceiling for a couple years. Last year he drove away from the Hurricane in top gear!!! I'd imagine John and Ted know.

Wallys motor has a 3.51 stroke, 3.86 bore. I tweeked a few parts in that motor but the real improvement came from the liberty gears I had on the shelf since the `80s. it made rowing the 4speed a little easyer. Wally is haveing the time of his life. (so am I watching it)

A 3.860 bore X 3.51 stroke, if I did the math right, rounded up to the nearest full number = 329 cu. in
