August 4th there was a nostalgia race at Maple Grove. I entered the geezer class and finished 3rd. Lost in a double breakout to the eventual winner.
This weekend at Maple Grove is a Ford Fun Weekend Aug 18th and 19th. Reading PA
August 26th is a Ford show and race at Mason Dixon dragway in Hagerstown MD.
Here's some pictures.

From the side picture, that Opel looks like it would fit in the back of your truck.

The first day of the Ford Fun Weekend at Maple Grove was today. I don't know if the weather made the difference, but the truck was running a half second better than 2 weeks ago. We got 2 time runs and I had an 18.13 and 18.11. I dialed in at 18.11 and ran an 18.114. I let up at the finish so I changed my dial in to 18.08. I let up at the finish and ran an 18.16 but was still doing 75 mph. Normally I'm doing 73 mph. Last run I ran an 18.06 at 76 mph and still let up at the finish. I kept the spare tire on today. I bet if I'd stayed in it and had the spare off I could have been in the 17's.
Day 2 is tomorrow, we'll see what happens

At the end of the track, at the return road, there's a guy standing with a pair of binoculars. He's checking to see if your windows are still up, still buckled up, helmet still on. Do any other tracks do that? Maple Grove is the only one I've been to that does it.

The guy in the center of the photo is Roy Hill. When he walked past the truck he gave me a thumbs up.

I like the back end of that 24! Why would anybody expect you to roll down your windows or unbucle when you are racing down the track?

Oh, I meant to also ask what that 57 is running for a motor doing 11.15's

Bill, when it's hot, the temptation to open the window is there.
The 57 had an FE in it. I didn't ask what size.
There were 2 other y blocks at Beaver Springs besides mine. A 56 f100 and a 55 steel top crown vic.
Dan Bauer was there without his car and Stan from Ohio with the black 55 with flames was there without his car. He showed me a picture of it with a big modern blower on it. He just has it mounted, hasn't started it yet. He said wait till we see it next year.

Ok got a couple of minutes.
The picture of the Edsel wagon - I thought could it have a y block?
I was surprised when I looked under the hood. I don't know 6 cylinders. What is it?

Hate to say it, but it looks like a late model Chevy inline.

Ok here's the '56 f 100. Brian E. from Inwood WV. It's got a 292 and a 5 speed from a early '60's 2 ton truck. 1st gear is a creeper gear and 5th gear is overdrive. If I wasn't racing I'd love to have a tranny like that. He said it weighs about 450 lbs. It looked big, had a PTO that he removed.
The gray '55 had a 302, but the red and white crown had a 312 and a toploader 4 spd. Jeremy G. from Chambersburg PA.

The track announcer said the FED'S had only one gear and they wet the tires at the starting line so the engine wouldn't stall.

The 6 in the Edsel is a 223, thats what my 58 originally had, they came factory in a few Edsels.

Yeah, that 223 is the same 6 I have in my 64 Ford F100. Last year for it I believe before they went to the 300 six series.
That owner has sunk at lot into that one with the Clifford 4 barrel intake and headers. pretty cool.
my 223 runs like a sewing machine-rather have a y in it though. Maybe some day.
Thanks for the pics Dennis-nice!

I'm late getting this posted. The twice postponed by rain Ford Carlisle race was held Oct 14th.
It was added on to their regular race schedule plus exhibitions. They didn't hold a ford only race, the best finishing fords in their class would win.
I had never seen the track this full,we were near the end of the track and more came in after me.
Nuts, they've changed something at photobucket and I can't resize them smaller. I can't post my pictures like this.
There was one car that came up the left lane, went right and over corrected and hit the left guardrail.

Here's a shot of Bruce Larson. He made 4 or 5 passes. I understand he has a little museum at his place.
This also fell on our camping weekend, so the truck got a workout again.
