I'm searching for some time a complete dash pad for a '66 Galaxie in black. Looks like nobody makes them. By any chance does anyone know if this part is being reproduced? I know about that covers that you lay down on top of the old dash pad, but I'm looking for the complete part for a friend.

Yep, I know this isn't a Y-Block related question in the United States, but here in Brazil it isSmile

Our '67 to '83 Galaxies were based on the 1966 US. The ones made between 1967 and 1975 had Ys under their hoods.

Thanks in advance!!!

Were they 292's or 312's?
By lovefordgalaxie - 12 Years Ago
The cars made in 1967 and 1968, were 272s. The '69 had the 292 as an option, and from 1970 to 1975 all were 292s.

A factory stock 1967 272:

Check out the alternator bracket and the AC mounts. You could sell those to US Y-owners if you can still find them!

Or send us detailed pics so we can recreate them.

I have a spare alternator bracket. Will take some detailed pictures of the A/C support and post. will just change by camera's battery.

The A/C support is a Motorcraft original part, intended for the York compressor, I just intelled and adapter on it to use the sanden compressor.

Here are pictures of the A/C bracket:

Here are pictures of the alternator bracket.

Those are easy to find around here, unlike the A/C bracket, that's a lot harder.

If someone liked the alternator thing, I can part with it. I would only charge for the shipping.

have you looked at http://www.justdashes.com/?

Yes, I looked at Justdashes. Looks like they only have a "overlay" kind pad, I'm looking for the complete pad, with the foam, vinyl cover, and steel frame.

Tulio, you might want to check out Dearborn Classics, they specialize in 1959 thru 1972 Galaxies. Their website is dearbornclassics.com (800) 252-7427. Also request a Galaxie catalog. Hope this helps.

Thaks Bud, I've looked there already. I bought lot's of stuff from Obsolete & Classic Auto parts, and Mac's too, but all of them only have the overlay kind dash pad, that you are supposed to lay over your stock dash. Never liked those, as you can say from far that's nothing original.

When I got my Galaxie repainted back in 2001, I bought a NOS dash pad from Brazilian eBay, back then, those parts were easy to find. If only I knew they would disappear...When my friend told me he wasn't finding one, at first I thought he hadn't looked very well, now i'm starting to think he'll have to buy one of those overlay pads.

If it was for a Mustang, or a '57 Chevy, he would be able to choose from who to buy it...

Look at Just Dashes again. You send them your dash core, they strip it, re-apply closed cell foam, shape it correctly, then vacuum apply a new vinyl finish. I've never dealt with them, but this is how they describe their work.

I'll give them a call. I'm just worried about the cost of shipping a dash pad to the US, and then back to Brazil.

I'll look if I can find a used one on eBay, already in the States, and have it sent to the guys of Just Dashes.

Thanks for the idea.

Are those stickers on the valve covers or are they stamped.  I would love that on my 292.  That looks great.
By lovefordgalaxie - 12 Years Ago
It's a sticker I've made.

Always wnated one with a "292" on it, but only could find the "Thunderbird Special" ones, so I decided to make my own.

Don't know if this will help? Worth a call maybe. Mike
