Rocker arm oiling modification

Hi Y guys

I'm looking for some input concerning the rocker arm modifications Gord McMillan did the article about. It was about pressurizing the rocker shafts by plugging the overflow pipes with a metered orifice.  He then advised drilling additional holes in the shafts.

Would one do this in addition to cutting the groove in the camshaft? Instead of cutting the camshaft groove? Or is it even necessary if you have a properly grooved cam with hard cam bearings?

Thoughts,comments, observations???????????

Thanks

From the response (or lack of same) I would guess this is not a widely used modification.

I'm just trying to gather all the information I can on the various options to keep those rockerarms properly lubed and functioning.

I remember all too well the leaky oil line to the valve covers on the old 55 4 dr I drove in high school. But then we bought a very clean used 61 Ford 2dr sedan with a 292 sporting a 4 bbl and 3 on the tree with a (I believe) synchro first gear.  I was livin' large!!

    Thanks

This question seems to pop up a lot.  I'll bet Ted has those links all ready to copy and paste. Wink

The only thing that Ted was not ready for was leaving his scoop in the middle of Denton Dragway...Spring Thaw.., and maybe the wheelstand at Kennedale Ford Shootout..??
