Sunday, the bi annual show put on by the local Mustang and GT Falcon Clubs was held here in Perth. Our club had 40 cars on show amongst over 500 and managed to take out two trophies in the People's Choice voting. One trophy went to an immaculate 56 Mercury

Monterey coupe - very rare here in WA - and the other prize was taken out by a red and white convertible built from a 1958 Aussie Customline. It ended up looking like a Canadian 55 Meteor with 56 stripes. For our cars to take out two prizes shows the popularity of this era of cars. The Merc also took out our Club trophy on the day.

I have posted some photos, so hope you enjoy.

I do have some if you are interested.

Nice cars, I don't think I will ever get used to seeing a '56 Ford dash with the controls on the wrong, er, right side. Looks pretty busy on that side with the steering box, heater, starter motor, clutch pedal, battery?, generator?...w00t

Rick, that is an impressive show and am now regretting not making the commitment of getting there for it Would have been logistically hard to do, but had been encouraged by Ian Steinert to come and stay at his place at Albany, he has silver star mainline, and bronze/silver sedan, you can see reversed in near fence in 1st pic, also bill Dunstan from Bunbury in fresh restored star also. I know from my sales there is a strong 56-59 ford bunch of guys in WA  and these cars sure prove that. Best regards bill.Smile

It was magic day [dispite me getting a little burnt]. It was a good turnout and the picture of the oval and crowds as you can see is only half, there is a picture not shown to the right as well.. phew! big day!

Thanks for posting the pics Rick..

Thanks for all your responses. The day was magnificent, 27C (about 90F), a light breeze and not a cloud in the sky.

If you had come over, Bill, Albany is a long way from Perth, about 400 kilometers but Ian is certainly a great friend and host. I am sure there are plenty of our club members who would put you up for a couple of days if you decide to make a visit to us. Big Al's Poker Run is in March with at least 700 per '76 cars.

Here are some more pictures.

I haven't put captions on the photos.

The last photo is a lineup from the organizers of 1969 GT Falcons all concours exact.

Here in Perth the sun sets in the West over the ocean. The biggest adjustment when you are in the Eastern States is the sun comes up in the east, over the ocean. I have a hard job getting my bearings. That was for you Master Cylinder.
