I ran across this and thought it interesting that he states it is 285 HP due to being late in the production run.  In the discussions I have read on this it doesn't seem to have been mentioned that it may be a factor being late in the run.  Whadda ya think?

I wonder if there is an invoice.

I have a copy of an in-house Ford letter that states that the 300 HP engine is to supplant the 285.  The 300 appeared ong before November '57 when this car was built.

I saw this one also and was wondering where he came up with that conclusion.

Oldmics sent me this link the other day.  Maybe this is an "ultra rare" DSO build?  LOL

Anyone contact the seller to find out how it was determined this is a 285 hp E code?  Does it have the dual valve springs or has valve lift been verified?

Regards,

Dennis

Even with dual springs and the correct cam lift, there is no guarantee that it left the factory that way.  In 50+ years all sorts of engine improvements could have been added.
