Saw this today at a show and freaked out. It's an old survivor minus the wheels, air scoop and stickers. I would have loved to have seen what it looked like before the new stuff was added.

I hope you told him about Y-blocksforever.com and invited him to Columbus next year. Neat car! Chuck

Engine looks good anyway, the rest not so much! Screwed up a nice bird with that wierd ass front end, rear custom touches not too bad, but the frontend even overlooking the dummy is just to much. But thats just my opinion.

Oh I agree with that but the overall car is decent and the Y looks great. I would suspect it is owned by a younger person. They do things a bit different. Chuck

So, personal taste aside, there's a fair amount of work in the quad, angled headlights, and the fins. The quarters must be gone, like mine are 1/2 way, so the patches. The shrouds under the doors look like what used to be done for lakes pipes. What part of the world or the country did you see this in? Dick someone, who worked at Barris, did a custom '57 when it was new (and did a clone maybe 10-15 years ago?). That set off a lot of modified 'bird's in later years on the left coast. If this is a survivor, it may have been bought cheap, like my first 'bird in 66, and manhandled by someone like me, who at the time (or maybe still), can't tell the difference between a Gasser and a custom. They all came from the 50's' right? The paint looks too good to be as old as the pinstripe, but thank goodness the hood is gone, if it had the rest of what I think that decal on the nose is. All in all, time has treated it better than some of us. Hope it finds it way.

This was at a car show in Maryland, I talked to the current owner who said he bought the car in Pennsylvania I'm guessing within the past few years. This is not a modern build, judging by the original after market parts I would have to say this was built circa 1965 or earlier. The paint looked to be at least 35+ years old. After looking at the pics again it's I'm thinking there may have been a big "bird" on the hood with the bottom of the bird remaining on the front end, kinda like on the smokey and the bandit firebird.

The only other really radical custom I know of is Jerry Anolik's "Moon Rocket".
