What tires are you using for drag racing?

Wanting to bo racing again after I get T-Bird re done and some engine improvements. Ran 6" recap cheater slicks from '67 Actualy had great traction. Running .30 over 312 with Crane cam and factory dual quads. 3 speed with 3.89 rear end. Was launching at 4500 to 5000 and was hard to catch off the line. Best ET was high 14's. Ran 4.11 and 4.57 and still had adequate traction. Going to Mummert heads and a little more radical cam and 4 speed. Will run 4.11 or 4.57 rear end. Looking for tire suggestions?

I use the Mickey Thompson ET Streets.   The work awesome.   They are also street legal to get to and from the track.  I would not recommend driving regularly, as they are bias ply and really sway around with low air pressure.   I use 15-16 lbs at the track.

When they get hot it will nearly stall the engine in the burnout.  I have a 5 spd and it makes 1.8 sixty foot times in full street trim in a 3800lb car. I also have Cal-Tracs. 

I tried the drag radials, which do not work at all with a manual trans, but can work with an automatic.  The ET Street wrinkle the wall and absorb the shock from the clutch, while the Drag radials always voilently wheel hopped. Radial are no comparision to the ET Streets.

I will be running traction masters and wheel hop has never been a problem with them. What car are you running and what width  and diameter tires? Too much tire can be a problem. With stick and dual quads I need to be able to spin the tires, just not light them up!

I run a 28x12:50's on my black '57 custom sedan. 

I used to run a set of 28x10.50's which have about a 9" foot print, which I would recommend for yours, as they should fit in the fenderwheel with some adjustment.

The 9" wide ought to fix your traction issue.

To make them still spin a little, just don't warm them up so much in the burnout box.

Your car may not have wheel hop now, but add some rigid and sticky drag radials and it may really show up.  The bias ply ET Steets have a wrinkle sidewall and absorb the energy so it won't hop even when the tires stick.
