Any one near central Kalifornia come on out to Eagle Field just west of Firebaugh.  Good times and "heads up" flag start drag racing.

If you are there come by and say "Hi" to me and Elwood! Wink

Took Elwood to Eagle Field yesterday and had a blast! Good times with Rocky, Carl, Todd, Earl and the rest of the crew. Here's a few videos of the event.

Enjoy!

Elwood sounds good! Any idea what times/speed you were running? Straight, true and pulls all the way through the quarter. Congrats. CHuck

Chuck, it's only an 1/8 and no timing equipment but it ran/pulled stronger than I have ever remembered it.  not much change except for timing and ran the rest of the 110 race fuel I brought back from B-ville (I had been running 100LL)  ABSOLUTLY EVERYTHING FELT GREAT! Wink

Thanks...I think I made one more pass in Earl than Tim did in the FED...it did OK considering it runs 31" tall radials with a 3.25:1 rear end...Cool

The reader's digest version is:

My great uncle Lloyd special-ordered the car in late '60 with the hottest engine/trans combo available, as was his typical approach. He never failed to mention how pissed he was about them starting to offer the 3x2 and 4-speed dealer options afer he took delivery. Sort of surprised it never had a 4-speed cut in. The car currently has a 361 Edsel (FE) in it but still has the long tube manifolds, etc..., and the original Hi-po engine is in his old ski boat which I'm still trying to nail down.

The old chrome revers wheels were in the trunk (REAL reversed wheels, with stems on the inside) and all (5) of the 15" Kelsey-Hayes steelies were in the house with the original hubcaps...Really an unmolested car with virtually no rust. Still remains registered after all these years with black CA plates, with matching veterans CA plate key chain.

The plan is a stock appearing '61 Starliner with more power with a hot FE...I'll keep you guys updated, and maybe we can just pretend it has a Y-block in it, like my F-100Hehe

Todd, here is some motivation for your FE build BigGrin. From Finland of course... Stock looking car with stroker FE.

Nice burnout. Did he pop the tires? Chuck

Nope, it's not wise to do with that nice paint job just done BigGrin.

Tim,

Great videos.  Looks like you guys had a lot of fun.

Todd,

Nice runs in the pickup...but save yourself the time and money and just sell the starliner to me!

HAHA...unfortunately, I am a glutton for punishment...All I need is something from the 30's and I'll have the high points covered through the Fomoco generations...

I'm a glutten for punishment too!  You can't blame a guy for trying can you? And you do have great taste in cars/pickups.  All of the cars in your signature are high on my list.  But don't forget the 40's...like a 40 ford coupe or pickup, maybe a 46 woody.

I am pretty serious about a '61 starliner though.  If in your travels looking for parts and such you run across another for sale please let me know!  Thanks,

Will do...I'm also on the lookout for a solid '56 F-100 builder...Smile

And, just for the record, while I don't have anything fat-fendered, I have the 40's covered by way of a '49 2-door sedan. Total project, but bought new in Santa Cruz, CA by a distant cousin... BigGrin

Wait a minute, I have been looking for a 61 Starliner longer, years in fact. That is the year I was born, just turned the big 50. I saw one a couple years ago on the side of the road when bringing my grand kids for a train ride. no one was around, by the time I got back to it, it was gone. Come to find out an old buddy of mine bought it for 6000.00. he is in the process of restoring it and won't part with it now. Bummer!
