Thought I found the 292 with the steel crank

There is a old junkyard I frequent and they had just drug in a 61 to 64 F600 dump truck and the hood would not open so before I started to mess with it I looked under it and seen dual pipes so I continued,I had visions of rams horn exhaust manifolds and a non choke 4 bbl intake along with the motor that has a steel crank. After I spend about a 1/2 hour messing with a frozen latch it finally opened and there was a FT motor instead of a 292,I was expecting a 292 or the Lincoln Y block but at first glance thought it was a FE and wondering why it had a generator but have found out the FT came out in 64. If it had a 292 I was going to grab the manifolds and distributor (if not for a governor) and put a deposit on the motor to have them pull it but maybe next time.

The bigger version of the '61-'66 light truck body style lasted several years after '66.  I ran into a similar situation with a dumptruck near me.  The cool thing is that a lot of the cab parts are interchangeable with the small trucks.

I think those trucks were made up to 69 or so as a road tractor and a somewhat looking cabover.
