Has anyone had any experience with L.D. Becker's Y-Block alternator conversion that is advertised in the CVA FOMOCO Times magazine? He is located in Norwalk, Ohio. He sells a GM CS130 105 amp alternator and bracket that fits yblocks. It costs $130.00 plus shipping. Most of the brackets for yblocks on the internet are $90-$100 just for the bracket. Most if not all of the yblock brackets are for GM alternators. I did not see any bracket for a Ford 3G alternator (my first choice) for a yblock - go figure.

Thanks,

Danny

You can link over from here to John Mummerts Ford-y-block.com site. He has a nice cast alternator bracket, however it's for a G.M one wire I believe.

Danny,

I bought one of his kits and have to say I am very impressed with it! I will admit, the first alternator that was shipped to me had a problem, I called Larry and he had a replacement one shipped to me next day air, before I had even paid for the first one! He took the second one back and paid the freight.

The alternator has been in my car for over 5 years now without a problem, and I run and electric fan, plus an amplified stereo in my 56. I will recommend L.D. Becker as his customer service is excellent.

I too have used one of Mr Becker's alternator kits on a customer's 57 thunderbird. It is made to fit inside the original thunderbird generator mounting bracket. Comes with a special pulley to line up the belt.

I would highly recommend his kit and their customer service is the best.

Hi,

My google search didn't get me much info. Does anyone have contact info or web site?

Thanks

He does not have a web site and he will be busy at a car show until Oct. 14.

Does he also sell an AC/Alternator bracket set-up for Y Blocks?

Just the alternator and bracket to my knowledge. Vintage Air has a bracket that I have used. It puts the compressor down low and is a real PITA for servicing.

Ron,

My classic auto air setup mounts the compressor above the alt. pass side, on my bird. Want a picture?

Mike;
Sure! a picture would be great if not too much trouble. Do you have the complete Classic Auto Air system or just the brackets? We want to put air in the Ranch Wagon. I have the accessory crank pulley for the set-up, but I agree the compressor mounted below the alternator is a PITA. That's what I have on my Customline and was hoping there was an alternative out there.

I have a Vintage Air setup on my car and when I had the hoses made up I had the shop that did it add charging ports in the hoses mounted on the inner fender.Very easy to service.
