Here are some photos of the Tbird with aluminum heads and Sanderson's. Just got it back from the muffler shop this afternoon. Did an impulsive thing and switched from 3 chamber Flowmasters to Magnaflows. Much louder and very like glasspacks on acceleration, more traditional sounding. Has a great loping idle and is fairly quiet at cruise. The headers really lit up the performance according to my butt meter. This thing is way faster than I expected. New set of Torque Thrust D's have been shipped and will go on next week. Working at the bench on the triple 94's and 573. Lots of little stuff to take care of. Next big project is the Granada front disc brake upgrade. I think positractionit is in my future.

It starts to be really nice setup.

She still got traditional Y-Block sounds?
By MarkMontereyBay - 13 Years Ago
Yeah....still has the distinctive Y Block la la la la la at idle. I just took it out this morning to listen again. Idle is at a fairly normal noise level and easing around the neighborhood nothing gets out of hand unless you get into it a little. Then the old glasspack blat blat blat blat sound starts and with a little crackle and pop on decel. It is very distinctive and not like the stuff you hear on the road now. Definitely in the ticket zone along with Harleys with straight pipes. I have forgotten how beasty old school performance engines with high lift cams, solid lifters and glasspacks sound. Unexpected from the normally sedate early Tbirds. Got used to today's smoother more modern sounds. I didn't have a balance crossover pipe added to the exhaust, too hard with the X frame and I think it would muffle the Y block tune. Having major trouble finding 225 60 R15's today. New rims are here and all the good tires are on back order.

When you turn the Personal Luxury Car to Personal Hot Rod Car, you turn also silent and comfortable cruises on sunny days to something else.
