We are getting close........My 56 hasnt been moved or started since last Columbus (still has last years #'s on it!)
I would like to know what kind of turnout will be expected for this years event.

I’ll be there. There’s still lots of work to do on the altered though. Engine is sitting within the frame rails right now without the intake while fitting a new oiling system to the engine. The plan for this year is no oil in the oil pan so there’s lots of plumbing to take care of. Once that’s done, then the engine comes out to run on the dyno for initial break-in and some intake manifold testing and then back into the chassis. Gonna be a busy week.

Ted, congratulations on your bonneville exploits, see you,re going to dry sump your altered? They did that here in the old speed boats yrs back, will be interested in your progress with that. When do you sleep?? best regards bill.

Thanks Bill. I do sleep regardless of what everyone believes. I did manage to complete the plumbing for the dry sump over the weekend and now have the engine mounted on a dyno cart. Have finished the crank trigger ignition bracketry and now working on temporary brackets to hang the dry sump oil reservoir and oil filter from the dyno. Might have the engine ready to fire up on Tuesday or thereabouts.

I'll have the hardware capability to upload photos but I'm usually exhausted after all the walking around each day. I back up the days photos and recharge batteries each night at the hotel room. I usually get 1100-1200 photos over the weekend, so 400ish each night to sort through and pick a few to post is a bit overwhelming. If I can I will, but no promises. Commentary won't be a problem. Of course, if my truck actually makes it, I'll probably have far fewer photos and do less walking, so we'll see.

Life throws us many challenges. I will not be attending the event this year.
My oldest daughter made the Varsity volley ball team (she is a freshmen) She has a game on Saturday at 10 am. She is really good and I'm very proud of her!
My Dad always told me its not about you its about the kids, and you have to be interested in what THEY are interested in, as they may not be interested in the stuff that we like. They are only young once and time flies!
I will miss being there, and dont ruin too many Y block parts!

As Kevin said, sometimes life gets in the way. Hurricane Irene hit where my wife owns and is currently selling a home, so we get to resolve that issue. Thankfully, the house only has very minor superficial damage to the property, we dont think the house itself was damaged. Still, they will likely want to do the apprsisal over, etc. So, that said, I will be thrashing this year to get my Custom together for next year, Lord willing. Almost ready to start painting again soon.

Well Guy's, Hurricane Irene put somewhat of a damper on me, running off generators the last couple of days, along with a costomers 04 Focus having transmission problems, completely rebuilt the thing and still the same (WTF) If I do make it I may be late and at that I may use air miles and fly in. the trailer I used last year the guy has it tied up also, other than that i may just jump in my 58 truck and drive there but would be late, my wife is totally against me going at this point also. I did warn her if I miss this year it will definately be the last year I miss. Best luck to all. Bill

Carl, thanks for the heads up on the heat warning. Man was it hot. I did bring 2 fans along that we could run with a generator. I was having fuel problems, don't know if it was vapor problems or fuel pump. I replaced the fuel pump and moved the fuel line away from the headers and insulated it. No problems sunday.
