Tom, I'll stop by. I'll also have sodas and water up on the hill for those that stop by. If I'm not there, sign in on the tablet. We like to keep record of y block guys that show up.

I forgot to mention, Bob Martin sent me prize money for best and 2nd best y block finish at the races friday night. How about some of you guys take some passes down the track. It's only an eighth mile. Only race as hard as you want to go, you don't have to break anything.

What a great weekend. My truck won a first place in my class. The 4.27 rear really helped pulling the camper. It feels safer pulling now.

I don't think I'll be any quicker in the eighth mile, I used to finish in 2nd gear. Now I have to shift another time before the finish line. I lost in the 1st round.

I thought I was going to have a good night friday night. My first and second passes down the track were separated by one ten thousandth of a second. How can you do that with a setup like I have?

I'll post pictures when I can.

Mr. consistency.  Combine that with your tree skills and you are unbeatable!

Hey Greg, here's another one for you.

I'm sorry that I missed this thread. I live just down the road from Carlisle in Chambersburg. and attended it on Saturday and Sunday. I would have like to have met some of you guys. I was lucky enough to get third place for my '56 T-Bird and also received the Celebritiy's choice award for it. Had a great time and slept in my own bed both nights. Smile

Pops, we stay at Pine Grove Furnace State Park. We get to sleep in our own bed too.

Here's a shot from friday, we're up on the hill.

Doug, still using your flag, thanks.

Dennis, if I`d have been there, I`d have owned it! By the way, my family tree comes from Greencastle PA. (south of Chambersburg) Always wanted to go back and look up some long lost relatives. (someday)

Hi Dennis,

I am glad the flag still flys.  Please bring it to Columbus this year if you come.

Doug T.

P.S. I couldn't remember the thread pitch on the rocker adjusters, are you guys sure it is 20 and not 24 TPI?  Anyhow that doesn't matter as much as the fact that I forgot the rocker ratio needed to be included.

I have in fact gotten 2 old Y's running quietly by pulling the rocker shafts and then grinding the face of the rockers with an angle grinder so that the wear surface was flush with the ground surface.  That way a feeler gauge can be used.  It sounds a little rough and ready but both engines ('64 & '56 Pickups) gave many thousands of miles service after that treatment.

Hey Dennis,

Glad to hear you got 1st place. I didn't win anything for the Carlisle show but took a 3rd place trophy in the Crown Victoria club. Had a great time. Did pick up some chrome goodys for under the hood.

                                 Rich.

Rich, congratulations. I saw on the Carlisle website Dan Bauer got a first with his red and white 55 wagon.

Doug, I'll be there. Now if we can only get the guy to take it home with him.

For you guys that have never been to Ford Carlisle, here's some pictures. It's the largest Ford show in the USA. The pictures are looking south, starting southeast panning to the southwest.

This isn't working out so good, I reduced the size to 300 width at photobucket, but they're still coming up large.

These shots are looking southwest and then west from up on the hill.
