Just blasted the set of fenderwell headers in my cabinet...cleaned with Eastwod PRE, and tomorrow morning I am going to coat with the Eastwood Hi-Temp Stainless Steel paint/coating for Manifolds/headers. I have used this product on cast manifolds, and am very satisfied with it. Should I expect any differences on a set of headers? Anybody else use this stuff?

I painted a set of manifolds with it too. Media blasted them, heated them to 425deg in my oven twice and had them sprayed by a local shop. With all instructions followed and more they started to peel the first time the heated up on the engine. I was disapointed although I know some people have had sucess with it. Of course this might be a regular Chuck-up! Thats the way my luck seems to go. Chuck in NH

The secret to getting it to stay on CAST IRON is to thin the first coat to a near water-like consistency so it SOAKS INTO the cast iron. Second coat is also thinned, but not as much, third coat, etc. It HAS to "soak in" to work. I can't see it working on steel unless maybe you used a VERY COARSE blasting media, to give it as much surface as possible to bond to. ( I've been wrong once or twice in my life, though) /Duck

About 10 years ago I blasted a set of cast iron headers for 406 in my 63 1/2 500 XL. We coated them with the Eastwood SS coating and they are STILL a good looking set of headers. They're from a 427 FE that i picked up from a MAC tool guy for 150 bucks. About ripped my pants pocket getting him the money before he changed his mind!

I gave them two coats yesterday, about an hour apart from each other. The first coat didn't cover too well, but I only used the glass beads I had in my cabinet to blast the headers. I have had excellent results with cast iron manifolds too, but don't know how the headers will hold up. I will probably give it some touch up once the headers are mounted on the day I break in the camshaft.

I used Eastwoods ceramic aluminum coating on my headers, about $25.00 for 4 ounces. Still have enough to do 3 more sets of headers. Sprayed on lightly then put them in the BBQ to cure. Left them with a nice satin aluminum finish that has held up well to a couple assembly, disassembly cycles and still looks like the day it was done.
