hello one and all. swaping out my old v8 soon. looking to part ways with the old y-block. dont want to scrap it, would love to see someone use it. as far as i know its a 56 312 with a 3sp trans. its in the car now so you can hear it run. hopefuly it will be out in a few weeks. new tune up and oil pump. dont know what i want for it...asking 300 on craigs (just to keep scrap guys away) if you want it to run it we can talk about price.

you can call me at (631)793-1816.....just wanted to make clear that i'm not trying to make a buck just want to save this motor from turning into a junk chinese toaster.

Glad you saw fit to advertize it, to often we find out about a part after some thoughtless person has decided without inquiring, that nobody will want it, & sends it for scrap. Hope someone takes you up on it. A note on a more exact location might help interest...

I would be interested in the crankshaft and rods (provided they are stamped ECZ) if you do plan to part it out...

I cannot get up there to pick it up from you, but is there anyway you could ship the whole works on a pallet?
By 57country - 13 Years Ago
not sure i'd have to see what it would cost to ship and what not. like the question mark implies not 100% on what cid it is and would pull the pan when motor is out. if you want it pm me and we can talk about shipping and whatever else you want to know

Verification from John Mummert's web site...

ECG = 272 cu. in V8 from 1955 to 57 cars and trucks. Typically a Dearborn casting.

Hope this helps. SALUTE for not just selling it for scrap!

If it's still available, there might be more interest if the Head casting letters are posted, since the engine code could be for a 1957?
