Here's a fun movie from 1956, very campy, Chuck Connors and Frank "the Riddler" Gorshin. You can see a Y-Block powered T-Bird bet a Jag in the opening credits. Enjoy! http://www.archive.org/details/HotRodGirl

Frank Gorshin was seen in alot of these old "Hot Rod" films. Another one that comes to mind is Drag Strip Girl. These old films are fun to watch. I also like Robert Mitchum in Thunder Road.
If your into old TV shows I always enjoyed this episode of Adam 12 when the boys end up at the Drag Strip and Officer Jim Reed races his '54? Ford. The Drag Strip is the now defunct Lions Drag Strip in Wilmington, CA (Moto "Drive the highways, Race at Lions".) where I spent much of my youth.
This is the Adam 12 Episode.

You Chevy lovers among us should enjoy the ending...
Didn't mean to steal your post, Tim. You just brought back some fond memories and thought I would share.

If you look on blockbuster you can find several old hot rod movies. Rent them and copy them.

I remember years ago Frank Gorshin doing I believe a T.V. Ad, where he imitated back to back, Bert Lancaster & Kurt Douglas. Clever & funny..

Moz, Sorry you can't see the Adam-12 episode. I tried sending it to a mate in Australia and he said the same thing.
What I liked about this episode is that Reed and McCoy were trying to get the street racers off the streets and race at the drag strip. Lions Drag Strip was started by the Lions Club International for that same reason, hence the motto; "Drive the Highways, Race at Lions".
Mickey Thompson was one of the early managers of Lions.

I also remember that Adam 12 episode. The "54 Ford in it, belonged to FE "ace" Ted Wells. He went on to race a super stock `67 427 Fairlane. Ted passed away 7 years ago and the family sold the car to a fella in Michigan. He left it lettered the same way Ted had it as a tribute. He comes to Columbus every year, I got to run the guy this year in the first round of the bracket 2 race. (lost a double brakeout) It was cool going over the finish line watching Ted Well`s Fairlane in the other lane. I don`t suppose any body got a picture?

It's possible. I'll look. I'll be real busy until Tuesday so remind me if I haven't replied by then.

When going through your pics, start looking in the 9/4/2010 2:30PM range as that was the time frame when Greg and the Fairlane lined up. Greg. Here’s a picture taken by Bob Martin. I've taken the liberty of cropping it so it would be a larger view in the downsized mode.

Wow, thanks Ted. Now if I can figure out how to print this off this computer, I`ll just get some kid to show me. Ted Well`s `54 had a 352 FE, that ran 11 teens in 1970. It was quite imppresive at the time. I met the man in 1972 briefly, he worked for Valley Head Service then. He was a very nice guy. Funny how every thing comes back around. Kind of like Y blocks!

Greg If you get one of those kids to show you how to load Teds picture on a flash drive, you can take to Kinko's and blow it up to "suitable for framing" size. Did that 54 have home made fiberglass body parts on it, I remember an article in a magazine back years ago.
