I hope I'm not duplicating a post.  The Wood Brothers Ford win at Daytona with a 20 year old rookie driver was fantastic.  Another Ford was second.

Paul:

Fords finished 1-2-3.  Just like in '56, almost.

Ford won the last two races last year and started out this year on the right track, maybe they have things turned around! I sure have gotten tired of watching the scrubs and yo's winning. The good too me was that this 20 year old young man was polite and well spoken, not like some of the wise ass kids that have come along in the past few years. I sure hope the Wood Bros can keep the team funded and run all year.

All that means is that the NASCAR "good ol boys" will be slowing the Fords down. Probably new rules by the next race. They call it "leveling the playing field". I call it "scrub rules" Chuck in NH

Wow.  Ford finished 1, 2,3!!!!!!  Gonna be a rule change announced asap as the bowtie boys can’t have that!  Remember the AMA racing ban of 1957?  Just kidding (I hope).  Sounds like the stars were all aligned for this one.  Congrats goes to those teams running the Fords.  Great Job!

Anybody notice Jack Roush congratulate the driver? Understand he took Wood Bros under his wing last summer, Wingo Crewed for Mark Martin at one time. Really great to see the 21 car back in the hunt.

I heartily agree that it's great to see Fords back in victory lane, especially the 21 and especially when it is painted up to look like the 21 of old.As others have said,if this goes on very long, you can bet Nascar will do something to guarantee that Fords do not continue winning.

However, the "dog fashion" racing has to be sorriest and most ridiculous thing I've ever seen on a race track.

also, if JR. had won, we'd still be hearing about it, but since fords came in 1.2.3. they interviewed all the loseing gm drivers and the race was over 10 min. later. they even slowed everone down 3 times to give the gm boys the chance to win. the only thing i didn't like was when biffle took out kenseth, who's side is he on, he took two fords out completely, really screwed up my fantasy score, i only got 244, well better try next week. it's great to see a rookie win with the woods brothers and #21. the chevy guys kept shoveing him back to the middle of the field and he just shoved them back to the front, i loved it. i didn't care for that stunt that ragan pulled on the restart. he should have waited and jumped in behind, he would have gotten second. i read where Roush had a machine out of whack in the shop, they've got it fixed now, mabey we'll have a good year, go fords!

I think the Kid is under contract thru Roush to run all of the 16 woods brothers Sprint cup races this year, he will run Nationwide races for Jack. One of Jacks old drivers could be outside looking in next year.

Ford took the Woods brothers under their wing! I'm pretty sure that Jack Roush would come along with that deal. Hes about as FORD as they come. Maybe the power wars are back! Muscle cars of 2011 w00t Chuck in NH

Ditto to that! Great outcome, but that 2x2 drafting reminded me of "motor paced bicycle racing"! They guys on bikes were known as "stayers". I wonder if Trevor would have been able to get around Ragan if that caution flag had not flown, or if he would have stayed in second place? NASCAR racing is pretty much ruined anymore!

Remember the '63 Daytona 500 when the new 427 fastback Fords took the top FIVE places?

Tiny Lund in the Wood Bros. car won it. Now, those were the days!!!!

For some reason - NASCAR's last tweak of the chassis before the race was to allow a larger grill/radiator opening????

If they wanted to stop the two on two on two ad infinitum, they would have gone the other way and made them overheat.

Interesting fact about this weekends upcoming race in AZ, it is 312 laps on a 1 mile track for 312 miles. That is if they don't have a green, white, checker finish.

I'm not a real fan of todays NASCAR, however it was nice to see Fords 1,2,3 at Daytona. Due to the "no OHC" engines rule, (advantage G.M,) both Ford & Chrysler had to design new NASCAR spec engines, sometime in 2009. The existing rules obviously favors G.M. It's probably taken some time to sort the new engines out. Lets hope some of the Fords teams have a breakout year. Ford has sold OHC V-8s for several years to the motoring public, but NASCAR won't let them run anything related to them, so their former race engine was based on the mid 60s designed, Windsor engine.

Watched Sprint Cup practice today. Looks like the "Moses" style racing is still in. (two by two). I guess its better than the 15 car drafts but? I hope someday they get back to real "stock" cars and real NASCAR style racing. Though I doubt we ever see it. Chuck in NH

I'm not much on NASCAR racing because there's nothing 'stock' about NASCAR stock cars except their outside silhouette. Drafting and this 'pushing a friend' routine doesn't seem like racing to me. Ermm

The Chili Bowl race was on speed today. That is one of the most exciting midget (or any other) races of the year. happens every winter in Tulsa OK. Grass roots racing at it finest. No Y's though.

Don't forget Daytona was a restrictor plate race and not really a good indicator of the various teams' potential. Unfortunately the Phoenix race was likely a more realistic expression of the current state of NASCAR. I have a world of faith in Jack Roush but if the rules are against him he will be hard pressed to buck GM's pull with NASCAR. Maybe we should have Obama as share holder in chief make GM pull out of racing!! Still Carl Edwards qualified fastest so maybe there is hope that the season will be a little more interesting.
