hey guys im gonna be designing a set of serpentine pullys and figured id see if anyone was interested before i go to far. i was planning to create both a painted steel set and posibly an aluminum or or chrome set but ultimatly it depends on the demand if no one will want them i wont create them. let me know so i can get started or abandon the project altogether besides for personal use.

thanks,

Duck

I'm interested if the price isn't too outrageous. I prefer black, followed by natural aluminum. I don't like chrome.
By 55Birdman - 13 Years Ago
That would look nice. Make it any way you want. BUt I want one for Dads bird.
By sundance241 - 13 Years Ago
I go along with Charley ,  i prefer black  and if   i can live  with the price ..........i would be interested in  one or two sets ...............Sam..............Fla...West Coast

It's nice to see Earls 'Bird pop up still, I guess you've decided to keep it. Smile

Nobody has any money to buy it . I rather see it on the road than falling apart in the garage. I will be on the web from time to time. I am Earl Jr.

Yep, the addiction is starting to take hold.
By Noob - 13 Years Ago
I'm in... cast or black, either... would make deposit once you get further, a sign of committment on both ends... the visuals could be pretty cool.

Cheers... Brian

I would be interested in seeing the end product and how much the cost will be. Any possibility of make a system that will drive the McCullouch blower included? Chuck in NH
By Daniel Jessup - 13 Years Ago
I'm with Chuck on that one!
By 55Birdman - 13 Years Ago
I wouldnt say I am addicted to the Y. Just addicted to Fords. Dont know much about the Y . My expertise is in big blocks. I will keep the Y in the bird just because its the original engine.

Yep. See you at Columbus this year!

I honestly think anyone would love to use. Serp setup.... I would love to have one if like stated b4 its not outrageous , for color I say keep it simple

Just my 2cents

(new user guys and starting a 64 f100 with a mild street 292 that's been in my family since it was made so hello to you all)w00t

I had meant to reply when first posted... I'd be in for a reasonable cost (?)... no preference on color/finish.

Cheers... Brian

I could possibly be in-looking at trying to add A/C and P/S down the road could be a great add.  I would be interested in price ballpark before jumping in, like others black or alum.  No chrome.

1960 F250, 292, 4spd.  I've been looking for a serpentine belt kit for 292.  need pulley drives for single wire alternator, power steering (for IFS power rack & pinion) and air-conditioning brackets for vintage Air install of AC/heater unit and possibly supercharger unit, newer Vortech type.

Do you have a projected cost yet?

Thanks,

StanleY-Block

I would be interested in but would only need stock set-up ie - crank, one-wire chev alt and waterpump.

If you keep your Dad's Bird for a while, you will be addicted. There's no cure though. w00t

ok to all who posted i am still working on the project been a while since i loged in so i figured id update i had a prototype set but they blew apart on me didnt realise it was rubbing and the crank one is being a nightmare any thoughts?
By charliemccraney - 13 Years Ago
Can you post pics of the problems?
By mr.uglyduckling - 13 Years Ago
i would if there was anything left of it Crazy
By mr.uglyduckling - 13 Years Ago
lets put it this way im glad i had the front clip off of my truckBigGrin
By mr.uglyduckling - 13 Years Ago
ok redesign is in order looked at my original and it is junk, another thing smooth or ribbed? smooth would be easier and to me look better but do certain pullies need to be ribbed or should it matter? any feed back would be great
By mr.uglyduckling - 13 Years Ago
new plan almost together just a few more tweeks then another prototypeSmile
By charliemccraney - 13 Years Ago
Any concept drawings? You say you "didn't realize it was rubbing and the crank one is being a nightmare." I don't fully understand the problems so I can't come up with a solution.
By charliemccraney - 13 Years Ago
Hows it going?
By mr.uglyduckling - 13 Years Ago
Yet another delay I broke my foot and as such won't be able to do much building but perhaps some planning I will keep you guys posted as much as possible now I now why so many give up
By charliemccraney - 13 Years Ago
Well keep at it. All problems can be solved. Remember. 99% perspiration, 1% inspiration.

And there are people here who can help solve problems.Wink

ok feed back on this im thinking of the final product being a multi piece welded together unit on paper it looks like a good plan just figured id ask for your guys opinion.

If it's designed right, it will work.
By mr.uglyduckling - 13 Years Ago
more than likly would be reasonably affordable the expensive part would be the machined centers scrounging around for a reputable machinist should have a prototype soon after that.

hang in there guys im trying the best i can if this is any inkling as to what john went through with the heads i have new found respect for that man.

Working on it guys still looking for a good machinist I have decided to at least for the time being I will more than likely just make a three pully kit also I need advice as to how I would work in a tensioner anything will go a long ways......

By charliemccraney - 13 Years Ago
I think a serpentine tensioner from a production vehicle may work. Go to the salvage yard and pick up a couple. That will save you from having to design one. Then all you need to do is to figure out how to mount it.
By mr.uglyduckling - 13 Years Ago
thanks for the advice ill take a look when i get near one
By mr.uglyduckling - 13 Years Ago
im going to try to shoot for a cost in the range of 250-500 but once again depends upon the cost of the machine work and number of pullies may be more may be less
By charliemccraney - 12 Years Ago
Have you made any progress with this?
By kcblueoval - 12 Years Ago
Yes, I'm interested, too. I had thought of designing one myself but can't find the time to complete some projects I've started. Black would be fine. Let us know when you get a set built.

I am interested in a couple myself.Color doesnt matter to me I will paint them anywaySmile
By charliemccraney - 12 Years Ago
I hope he didn't give up on it. It's been 8 months since an update.
By 62unibody - 12 Years Ago
me too.I think once word got out they would fly off the shelf. They are available for alot of vintage engines but it amazed me that one was not for a y block.
By Twisted_Fate - 12 Years Ago
Any Progress? i think there is a lot of Y blockers that are really interested in this set up! i know i am!!
By mr.uglyduckling - 12 Years Ago
hey guys sorry for being gone so long i am still working on it i am currently at a stand still. i sold my trucks with y-blocks so i am on the prowl for another engine. bear with me please i have come up with at least a basic pully plan
By mr.uglyduckling - 11 Years Ago
i dont know if anybody still follows this but i am in a spot where i can tackle this project again and need to know if anybody would like to help looking for people with all sorts of y-block cars to share measurements with me and bounce ideas back and forth pm me or direct email, wildchildlancealot@yahoo.com

thanks,
