Mr. Ted Eaton's "magnificent" y-block is on the cover, with mention of "Excelent Power" though it did not make the finals.

once again Ted, you have pushed the y-block into the spotlight. Great Job!

Is that the Feb issue?

Yes, I also saw in at the new stand today. The articles also include the Dyno Data sheets on engines. I liked the part that states "nine" newer technology engines failed to make 3 back to back pulls.

Cool!  I don't usually buy that rag but the cover alone will sell a copy this time.  Good marketing strategy! BigGrin

Y-Guys:   Ted & crew "spanked" a bunch of big names and some many High $$

engines. It's amazing what just John's heads and some excellent tuning

          did!

Changing gears a little, I noticed in the article that every engine in the

test, horsepower exceded TQ at 5300 RPM. Am I missing something here???

Horsepower is determined by the formula hp = (tq x rpm) / 5252. So at 5252 rpm, tq will always equal hp and hp will always be greater than tq when the rpm is above 5252rpm. That is why the horsepower is greater than torque above 5300rpm.

One of the main reasons I chose a 56 was because I wanted a car that had an original engine that was reliable and powerful enough that I could keep it rather than repower as many of that vintage do. Every day I realize how wise a choice the Y was, and Ted just keeps proving it. Mike

I picked a copy up yesterday and the Y block seems to have received as much print as the other engines. One thing that surprised me was that the author freely admitted that the rules were written to give the EFI engines an advantage. Just another example of the "rags" pushing the hobby in a certain direction. To be fair, he did indicate that next years rules will be more balanced.
