The trucks fixed, and we're back on the road to Columbus.
Can someone call us with the info on the races tomorrow. We'll be pulling in just as their starting. (806)535-7043.

We finally made it home to Texas! Had a trailer blow out near Indianalpolis. Had to buy a new tire at Walmart. Then at midnight, I checked the tire, and now the trailer was totally missing a wheel, hub and all. A wheel bearing must have went out and wore the axle off, loosing the wheel who knows where. We got a hotel in Cuba Missouri for the night. Teh next morning I put the street tires back on the '57. I followed Krista and the three wheeled trailer all the way back to Texas in the '57! 12 1/2 hours worth of driving. Of course the truck's high pressure oil pump($2,100) we just had replaced in Oklahoma City is leaking bad, as is the rear main in the '57, which had no leaks after originally putting it together days earlier. The main thing is we are home and safe, and everything can be eventially fixed and paid for. We are glad we made it to Columbus and got to see everyone. That part of the trip made it worth it.

Pat. Your trip up and back sounds like one of my worst nightmares. I feel for you on the lost spindle as I’ve had that happen to myself in the past. But it was great seeing you and Krista at the event and also seeing your car running once more. But glad you’ve made it back home with only the problems you’ve had. It’s a good thing your ’57 is indeed road worthy. I’ve made it back home myself but traveling alone sure makes it a much harder trip although I’m glad I was fortunate not to have the same traveling issues (this year anyhow) with my truck that you did. Not bragging, simply thanking the Lord.

Glad you made it home safe and sound everyone, Us "Mainiacs" made it safe also without a glitch. of coarse I took all the wheels apart on the trailer and regreased all bearings before leaving along with rebuilding half the trailer and rewiring. 3 days of prep on the borrowed trailer just to insure we would make it. After arriving in Columbus the one thing I noticed after all the work was I forgot to install safety chains. All I can say about the weekend is WOW! It was great to meet everyone and for a fist timer I had the time of my life without breaking anything, although I did find out I need more circlips on my pistons.

Pat, gald to hear you made it home safe. I took a vacation a few years back with a bunch of friends and on the way down I had 2 flat tires on the trailer at different times mind you, I broke my ankle during the vacation, my friend wrecked his jet ski and on the way home his tranny went out. Dispite all the problems it is still the best vactaion we have ever been on. There is difently something to be said about good friends.

I got a nail in my tire on Friday morning. I checked the pressure throughout the weekend and it stayed steady. That's the extend of my troubles.

Nope. The truck didn't go. This nail is in my car's (Firebird's) tire. I simply need a trailer and a truck that can pull it and I don't have the room for either right now. And it's always new stuff breaking which makes me mad. Since installing this new engine, I've had one problem that was a 49 year old part. The 7 or 8 others all involved new stuff. I don't have much faith in it making a long distance trip right now.

Pat, I hope all the trouble does not deter you from coming back in the future... We really enjoy watching your car run and having you as part of the group.. I had 2 tires with separated belts on the trip down but caught them in time.. I have lost a wheel on a trailer due to bearing failure too.. Glad you made it home safe.. Hope to see you next year

thankful to hear everyone safe at home. parked between the church bros. and yblock billy for the weekend and enjoyed meeting and talking to everyone. thank you ladies for the wonderful food you'll so lovingly prepared and served. mister bob, never met a harder working friendly person, thank you for making myself and wife feel welcome. glenn, glad to meet you and your lovely wife, and enjoyed dinner tremendously, john, sorry you have the head gasket problem, but you show wonderful sportsmanship amidst your trial in that you seemed to have all the time in the world to stop and talk will anyone who wanted to talk, swelling is starting to recede in my elbows and leg since getting run over by my own car, which was the main reason that i put my 32 coupe in the car show instead of racing it. next year will be different for sure. to all who helped me unload and load it, thank you all and hope to see each and everyone of you next year. GOD bless, and remember please to pray for our nation and our military this month. we desperately need GOD's guidance in the governing of our country. glenn, you are so right , freedom isnt free, but oh so precious, 2nd.
