Been running the Hoosier Hurricane pretty regularly this summer.  Not a lot of success, but it has been running well, low 12s and 112+ mph.  Biggest problem has been too many red lights.  Today I went out, and on my first time run I blew a head gasket.  Bummer.  Have not taken it apart yet, I hope no other damage was done.  May as well take off both heads, that way I'll have new gaskets for Columbus.

Bummer John Sad

When did you have her apart last?

Hopefully it is just the gasket.

They will do that when you try to force all that air in the cylinders! Hope the weather is cooler up there than down here, this heat wave is dealing me fits. I got too hot yesterday while pulling the mockup motor from the Falcon and have not felt well today, so take it easy. You still have over three weeks, good luck and I hope there is no other damage.

Pulled the head this afternoon.  Fire ring had been pushing up toward the water hole on #1, finally made it to the water.  Head and block are flat, I don't know why it happened.  471 head, and there is a post right where it blew.  Thought I'd better pull the left head and check it.  Wish I hadn't.  Gasket was perfect.  At least now I know.  Glen, I freshened the valves last winter.  No sign of gasket problems then.  Heads are sitting back on the block, not torqued yet.  Got tired, and yes, we have the heat and humidity you are referring to.
