So the 58 I just bought has a totally roached seat and aside from restoring this one I was curious if anyone has any luck swapping seats in from another rig into one of these.. Do other series of F-100 seats fit in here at all.. would like to keep it ford but i'll do what i gotta to get this thing on the road (or at least to the point where i can sit in it and make "vroom vroom" sounds)..

Dustin,

I used the seat from a '78  F100 in my '57.  It's a little wide and you have to redrill where it bolts to the floor, but it fits.  I don't know if the '67-'72 seats would be a little narrower or not.  They might fit.  I saw a seat from a Dodge Dakota in a '59 and it was a little narrow.  Guess bottom line, you almost gotta measure.  Good luck.

Given the generous cab width of your PU finding a seat should be pretty easy.  I would think most Fords up to at least 74 would be candidates.

Finding a seat for a '46 was hard.  Finally sectioned 4 in. out of a Mitsubishi PU seat frame so it would fit in the narrow cab, and reupholstered.  Used cutdown seatfoam from a Chrysler mini van third row seat for the base.  Also had to redo the latching geometry because the seat laid too far back for the cab.

Reupholstering doesnt have to be real expensive depending upon your objectives.  I think mine cost $150, material and labor.  But it was done by an experienced man at his home upholstering shop (no overhead to pay out).

In my '53 truck I used two bucket seats from a 2000 ish Chrysler mini van, bolted them in, fabricated a carpet covered wood console to fit between them.  No upholstery cost, paid $100 for the seats.

Thanks for the ideas guys.. Actually right after I posted this I found a pretty good seat fitament article over on the Ford Truck Enthusiast website.. http://www.ford-trucks.com/article/idx/40/219/5379_FSeries_Repair__Maintenance/article/Frequently_Asked_Questions_FAQs_on_Adapting_Major_Components_of_1948_to_1960_Ford_Trucks.html

Dustin just a FYI I used a seat out of a 85 Ford pickup, bolted right into my 57 F100, just a touch wide but works.

You mean it bolted right up without any modification?

I had a trashed out seat too. I ordered the exact fabric and vinyl from SMS in Oregon. Even got the ford logo embossed.

Well i'm in Oregon so that should work out!! Do you have a website or contact info for this company? And when I say roached I mean that there was no driver's side window when it was parked and this thing has about 12 years worth of furry woodland creature piss soaked into it so other than the metal frame of the seat there's no saving it..

Dustin yes the 85 Ford pickup seat bolted right in in my case. You have to slam the doors a little harder but it does work. This was put in a 57 F100.

I have a set of 1986 Mercedes 240-D seats in my F-100, and they fit fine. I couldn't use the original rails, because it made it too high up, though. I originally had 88 Volvo seats, and then moved to a 78 Nova bench seat, and both those fit. The Nova seat was great as far as placement, but the back was a little short. The Volvo seats were too far forward for my tastes, but it worked.

Hi All, I ended up fabricating new seat bases out of 1" square tube and mounting 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix leather buckets (driver's is powered) in my '54. This is the only pic I have of them.

If any body swaps the original bucket seat from a late 50's panel truck, let me know.   I need the drivers side bucket seat that a full size panel would have had originally.

I just want to let you truck guys know so the originals buckets don't get tossed.

Thanks.

I have a 62 F100 4X4 and I mounted in seats from a 95 f150, they are the 40,20,40 style.  Two buckets and a nice center counsole.  I did have to modify the mount but it was not that difficult.  They even have lumbar.  Very comfortable.
