Looking for a good used LH door latch for my '56 Customline hardtop. All the aftermarket companies want a core to rebuild and I'm not willing to give up this nice cruisin' weather. Thanks, Rono

You could also call Bob Burgess in Bellbrook Ohio (or similar parts specialists) to see if he has an old one to use as a core, depending on how much money you wanted to spend?

Rono...........I haven't been able to find the front door latches that I know I have.I scrapped a 56 a couple of months ago and saved the latches, but I guess I hid them from myself.I'll search some more tomorrow.I do have in hand a pair of rear door latches.Do you know if they are the same?I also have another parts car that still has the latches,I think. If worst comes to worst I'll get the latches from that car.

Paul; Thanks for taking the time too look. I know that aftermarket companies list front and rear door latches seperately, but I'm not sure what the differences are. Does anyone else know? Thanks, Rono

Rono, I found a left front door latch. It is in good shape. All the springs are good on it.The cogs on the star wheel show little wear.If you'll send me your mailing address by email,I'll get it in the mail tomorrow or Monday. If it's suitable for what you need, how's $25.00 sound to you. My email is ph101842@yahoo.com. I don't think the PM feature on here is working,so email is best.

Paul; Thanks for taking the time too look. I know that aftermarket companies list front and rear door latches seperately, but I'm not sure what the differences are. Does anyone else know? Thanks, Rono Basically the front door latches have a locking lever that pulls up and down by inner lock knob, the rear has this removed and has a different pivot to lock it horizontally from inside and has one raised corner on its frame to fit door. but if you were capable, both the locks can be modified to interchange! once you have a front and rear in your hands its easy to see.

Hi Bill! thats good to know.Obviously its far easier to find a tight rear latch in good shape than a front one.Have you done a rear one to fit front yourself?
