Thanks, I checked this outfits (mrstromberg.com) website early on. I expect that Ebay offering to go over $1000 based on their retail pricing. Nice setup indeed but too much cash for me. I have read some about the 94 vs 97 carbs and found them to be about equal in performance. I wonder if the renewed interest in Yblocks and 3x2 intakes will push Edelbrock, or someone else to market an intake.

Mark: (this post would normally belong in This & That) Just an opinion but I wouldn't hold your breath for a new Tri Power intake. Especially from Edelbrock, their bread and butter comes from the SBC crowd. Also Vic Edelbrock (the 2nd) has made it known that he does not have any interest in our favorite engine.

I actually spoke to a very good Edelbrock rep at the GNRS this past weekend, and he said that there's a good possibility of seeing a return of both Y-block and Nailhead (Buick) product offerings, consisting of 3x2 intakes and finned valve covers.

He said they are currently looking at re-engineering the castings for todays processes. They won't be exactly the same, but very similar. There's apparently a big internal push to provide products to packaged their new "94" with.

May all be B.S. but he sounded very informed, at least.

BTW Mark, I have a 573 that I have plans for...but if you happen to know where a nice pair of Edelbrock valve covers are, I would trade straight, up, or down, and pay shipping for both of us. Just a thought.

Todd,

Haven't a set of or know of any Edelbrock V/Cs. I am using the original finned units on my Tbird. Still looking for a 573. I have dealt with today's Edelbrock and really want nothing much to do with them. Their anti-Ford attitude is too much for me although the FE aluminum heads are popular. I wouldn't hold my breath for a new y-block intake and if there is it will be very expensive. BTW, I got the carbs/intake today. Will start to take the carbs apart, maybe swap out the Load-o-Matic base plates, polish the intake, etc. Charlie Price Vintage Speed has all the goodies for 94's. Also looking at the Sanderson headers. I just put a set on my 65 Galaxie FE.

Thanks,

Hey Mark,

If you come across another set, just grab them and we'll work out the details...I have plans for my 573, but would use it as trade fodder if needed...

Todd,

I have been looking at times today. Doing that kind of thing on the internet is addicting. I feel bad that I didn't contact you personally last night. Didn't realize how fast they sell and so hard to come by. There is the possibility the Edelbrock valve covers that sold last evening will reappear on the market. Tried using Bing, Yahoo, and some other search engines as sometimes you can find stuff that way. I have another 573 and more 94's on the way this week. Found another 573 in Arkansas but haven't heard back. I was measuring the 553 you sent against an Offy and a 57 cast iron B 4bbl today and found the ports on the 553 had been enlarged to match the later 57 big port heads.
