Jeff.  Where are you at?  I have a ’55 wagon I’m using as a parts car for another project that has the 182HP 272 and original air cooled Ford-O-Matic.  Although the engine is locked up from sitting 40+ years, I’ll let the tranny go cheap but shipping costs would be out of sight.  Local pickup works better for me as shipping from my location is always a problem.

Carl’s tranny may be a better deal though depending upon where you're at as Carl's has already been rebuilt while the internal condition of mine is unknown and is needing at the very least a rebuild.

There is a rusty 55 4 dr with 272 2v and std. trans. at Pull-a-Part in Canton, Oh. I took the fuel pump about a month ago and everything was intact at that time. Looks like car had been sitting outside for years. It was listed on their website as a 1955 GALAXY! You might be able to buy the whole car cheap.

Since I live in Ohio I will have to look into the one in Canton but its still a far piece from me in Dayton, even though it would be easier to get a parts car I might just get the parts I need since I will most likely keep the 8 inch rear end and I am not going to give up on the disc brakes just yet.  I never really liked the FOM due to it starting out in 2nd and I really want to adapt a FMX unless I can get someone to modify the valve body in the FOM to start out in 1st as I want to have 3.00 gears and dont want the motor spinning too fast when I cruise at 70 or 75 on highway trips.
