I am ordering some touch up cans for under hood detailing, and I don't have the actual code for the paint...can anyone help?

Thanks,

Todd

Just a heads up, because i'm not sure. But it could be worth a check just for the sake of cost and simplicity.

I believe FORD changed the name of the color later on to Wimbledon white. In which case you can go to your favorite auto parts supply store where "Dupli-color" paint is sold and buy a can of it.

Much cheaper. pretty nice paint as well.

Yeah, I'd thought about that too...

My '60 F-100 was (and will be again in the future) Monte Carlo Red/Corinthian (I think) white. Wimbledon white is very close to that color, but the Colonial White looks much more Ivory. While the car has been repainted, the continental kit's inside ring is still original and is quite different than the (original) paint on the dash of my truck...

In the middle of typing this, I was also searching again and came across this site:

http://www.lovefords.org/tech/Vin/paint/default.htm

The paint code is PPG #8103

Interestingly, "Snowshoe", "Colonial", "Corinthian", and "Wimbledon" whites are all different color codes...

Todd,

Are you looking for the white for the T-Bird?  If so, ive had great luck here:

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/choosecolor/choosecolor.aspx?year=1956&make=Ford&model=All+Models

They matched my fiesta red dead on (they use PPG paints, iirc. Ive used another place that used dupont, and it didnt match; i did my car w/ppg pains)

Does that help?

I would expect Wimbledon White to be a different code than Colonial white. Colonial White as the name would indicate, has a slight antique look to it.

The body tag code letter for '56 Colonial white is E.  The paint formula code is M-2J-523.

I did under my hood a few months ago and I used a satin white made by Rustoleum ... looks pretty good, not exact but a lot better than it was. Mine is Colonial white too
