Guys, good to be back and catch up on all the happenings, especially the engine masters results, great effort by all. I have just returned from week long hot rod run at valla beach park in NSW, basically 400 kms north of Sydney, australia, its been going for over 30 years and was great to catch up with long time ford friends and the cars. there were approx 380 entries and again this year i was Only Y block engine car there, but there is strong interest and many cars being built with our engines. Obviously with the internet, the information is available to attract and inform interested folks. Thank you. regards bill.

Y-Blocks are still pretty rare at most events but it's nice to see that more are popping up at least in our area.  I only saw one run at the event that we went to this weekend but there was a few more on display.  I still think yours is one of the best looking ones Bill. Smile

Was at a show this weekend and as the only Y also.  Actually had a couple ask it was a 312 when I mentioned it was a Y block and even one guy said nice Y block before being told what the engine was.  Y's may not be main stream but we are growing popularity. Bing

Bing,

I attended a 400 car hot rod event this past weekend.  There were not any other Y's there except for the 5 or so Thunderbirds.  Not even a Y in any of the effies.  Talked to two thunderbird owners about some particulars of the T-bird Y application that I've been wondering about and they didnt know much of anything about Y's.  Got to talking with my truck neighbor who also has a T-bird and finally found someone knowledgable to converse with regarding the engines.

The engine ran fantastic to and from, a total of 200 miles!  A friend and his Packard with a hot Mopar 360 was in the lead both ways, and he was impressed.  He said whenever he put some acceleration on I was always right there.  I think his ride is about 400 lbs more than mine so it helps.

Hey Bill you need to come down to the Y-Block stateBigGrinBigGrinBigGrin
Here's 3 from the "Chopped" run at Newstead a few weeks ago

I believe that there were a few others as well , including a 6 carb in a mercury.
I'll see what I can find at Bright weekend after next.

Thanks David

P.S. you'd reckon that "Thomas" gear was common ,looking at these pics BigGrinBigGrinBigGrin
Also heard on the grapevine that a guy in Melbourne is working on recasting "Thomas" rocker covers.

Frank, it was a one day show in Rochester, IN.  Nothing big but maybe 200-300 cars.  Let me know if you are ever in my next of the woods.

Tim, I am embarressed to say this but no.  Its on "my" to do list but the honey do list and daddy do lists take priority and seem to be taking up more and more time.  I just have to learn to better manage my 9:30pm to 1am time slot around my to do's.w00t

200 - 300 cars is nothing big where you are! They are rarely near that number here!

Maybe us Hoosiers do know how to do a car show.  Guess when you have gone to a Good Guys or NRSA show and there are 1500+ cars 2-300 can seem small.  I've heard size matters but can't rememder if she was talking about cars shows or not???

No problem!  trust me I know what you're talking about.  Wink  As long as you can drive the truck that is the important thing, let us know when you do get it going and of course a YouTube vid so we can hear it.  BigGrin

Hi Bill, went to the Bright rod run on the week end and only saw one Y-powered rod there, which was Dave's 32 ford [yblock32]. There was a standard 56 f100 complete with caravan and plenty of Customlines but not many with the bonnets up, presumably the majority still had Y's in place. Yes, yes, I know, I should have been in the Panel, but went in the Galaxy.

Hi Pete, it was good to meet you in person ( at Bright) I did find 1 other y-block powered hot rod. It was parked very briefly beside my '32 & had just enought time to get quick snap, unfortunately someone walked into the shot blocking my engine.

Here's a pic of my '32 parked with 32rag's A coupe ( who I introduced you to - Pete )

Thanks David
