WOW!! this is the way I used to race all the time with a flagman to start you AND to keep you lined up on the line. I remember I rolled a little over the line and the flagman pointed to me to back up a bit, so I did. I took it out of reverse and put it in 1st and waited for the start. (64 Falcon Ranchero 289HI-PO 4spd) when the flag came down I popped the clutch at 3000 rpm or better and ripped my rear U-joint apart. You should have heard the noise from the driveshaft slinging around under my car till it finally fell out! That was my BEST lesson on remembering to take out the slack when I pulled up to the line.  Later that night after I was towed home and we were having a few brews was I finally able to laugh about it. Oh, I miss the good ole days!

Bring back those days .Its no wonder Nostalgia Drags are so popular around the world .Run what you brung .We don't need no stinking ,billet .hand carved alloy, custom everything , Show Pony that costs a zillion bucks .Give me grass roots any day .I swear I have more fun in Bob Martins Mercury than any of those Pro racers ever had . I don't see all those big $ guys having as much fun as us at Columbus ???????Just my opinion.
