i have a 292 in my parts truck that i have made mention of before i was told it developed a tick and just needed a head rebuild its suposed to still run tho i have never fired it off no exhaust manifolds or else i would i pulled them off to find them in just as bad of condition as my curent ones but if it just needs rebuilt heads and a tune up how much is it worth and does anyone want it

First and foremost need to know what part of the country these parts are in as shipping costs play into the overall price.

 

Knowing the year model or some of the casting numbers helps as the heads are a key component in evaluating the worth of a core engine.  As a general rule and not knowing much about the engine other than it turns over, $150 is all I’ll give for a core.  If it has a desirable set of heads or other wanted pieces included with it, then it obviously becomes worth more.  Hearing it run or having assurances about the condition of the engine when it was running also plays into what an engine is potentially worth.

where do you find the head numbers oh it is in a 64 f250 if that helps did i mention the ticking it has from what i was toldbut i do not know as i have "borrowed" the exhaust manifolds

The head casting numbers on the later model Y engines will be located at the water ports under the intake manifold.  The earlier heads can have them either on the exhaust side of the head or in the valve cover itself.  If the heads are off the engine, then the casting number can sometimes also be found in one of the recesses on the deck surface.

The 5752-113 head if not cracked or badly corroded is worth a bit. Also, the ECZ-G, same applies. The COTE is a truck head & isn't of much interest, due to low compression and smallest intake valves. Are these single parts?.. Anyway, post a list of the parts and block, & take offers..with a location

Barry.  I put a hard return (enter key) after the text and then a hard return after each picture so everything would be aligned in a row starting on the left side of the screen.  Not using hard returns makes everything try to roll off the right side of the screen as the pictures and/or text when added to pictures doesn’t know when to stop and go to the next line.  Hope that was clear.
