Dennis: Different car? He built & was running a Roadster before, can you elaborate?

I sent an e mail to Chuck this morning. It looks like he built a new dragster.
By Ted - 15 Years Ago
I talked with Bob and he provided the following.  The new chassis is a new front engine 180” wheel base dragster and he essentially started building it last November.  The dragster was running in June but had some head problems of which he got a replacement pair from Michael Henaults, the California Y powered dirt racer.  The bottomend is the same one that was in the roadster but does have a new and larger 6-71 blower on it.  The backend has a 9” Ford rear with 3.89:1 gears.  He did mention that he’s buzzing the engine pretty hard right now at 7800 rpms and would like to regear accordingly.  Bob has raised the bar and is still in a position to lower the mark even more.  Atta boy Bob.

Congrats to Bob and all his helpers.  Well done and well deserved.

I got the same email from Bob Martin and it said that the photographer wasn't able to get the picture of the first run that was in the high 7s.  The picture of the 8.0 was a second run (wow, the consistency is awesome).

Bob mentioned he would love to be at Columbus and would try to be there.  He also said that he felt there was more in the motor.

Congratulations on cracking the 7 seconds.I sure wish I was heading to Columbus this year .The good 'ole boys from Texas will have thinking caps on ???? With those  diff gears ,there sure is plenty of room for change .Who will be the first Y- BLOCK  to crack the 6 SECONDS ???

Wow! Congrats to that. Now whats up Randy and Teds sleeve? With the EMC coming I know Ted is busy, but I also know Randy just wants to go FAST!

Those Aussies have their work cut out for them if they ever want the record back.

Congratulations are in order for Bob.  That's truly a remarkable performance.  Showing the world the Y isn't dead.

Here are a couple more pics that Bob sent.  The picture of the dragster leaving the line is the 7.96 pass.  Observe the throttle opening as He had to back out of the throttle due to the hard launch.  He mentioned that the wheelie bar received a bad bend in it on that launch.

Congratulations to Bob and crew!!

And I thought his roadster was impressive. The rail looks great and runs like a Y-Block should.

Very nice job all the way around.

It will be interesting to see what it will do when its all sorted outw00t
