Sure would appreciate some pics of any '57 (car) engine compartments... I'm close to getting mine sorted out and would enjoy seeing some inspirational shots of really clean, buttoned up engine bays from fellow-'57 owners. Mine's a 64B 2-door post Fairlane 500, red/white, 272, 3-on-the-tree... Just finished installing my first attempts at steel, hand-bent tubing for the oil pressure sender-to-guage, vacuum lines from engine to fuel pump-to-wiper motor, intake-to-distributor, and will soon do the fuel pump-to-carb. So, how 'bout it...I'll show you mine if you show me yours! thanks, Mark

Heres what i did to my 57's firewall first of all i didn't like the seem down the center where they spot welded the firewall together so i cut the seem and welded it as one piece along with getting rid of the heater core and fan to make the firewall bare and smooth im hopefully going to paint it next week. More pictures of my project on my website link in my signature.

thanks a lot! Not to put you down, but for some encouragement i just turned 21 last week so I've been working on that car since i was 18 but back in high school besides just welding and machining when i was bored i worked for a very prestigious hot rod shop, thats been in every hot rod magazine around and i learned a lot about fabricating and welding nevertheless welding is all about patience its easy once you get the hang of it and you will develop an ear for the sound and see how the puddle is acting. As far as the body work goes i use to work for a car prep company that would make cars for movies and TV shows; i worked on the first two fast and the furious movie cars, from their i learned body work a lot of sanding and finally in to the painting so all in all its something you can do as long as you have the time to learn it.
As for the car i just painted the inside of the car sanded it to metal then painted the floor with a rust inhibitor so it wont rust again, the next thing to do is to still paint that firewall, but work and school has been taking up a lot of my time. As soon as the firewall is painted it all goes back together everything else is ready to get put back on, the engines new and all shiny trans rebuilt, i just have to lay some insulation down which i have and carpet. I'm hoping to be done by the end of january it all depends on how much i work since i work for the studios i work one week then maybe a couple days off then a month straight it all depends so will see ill put new pictures up in the next few days.
Thanks again
