Bill, How are you? I replaced the windshield in the race truck earlier this year and it was quite reasonable. The glass was only $150 plus rubber seal and labor. The rubber seal comes in two types. If you have the stainless trim you need one with the track for it. If not then a plain one will do. I had the stainless trim, but the glass man said it was difficult to install and he didn't want to mess with it. That was fine with me, but if you have it, I sure would keep it. I think the stainless in the windshield and rear big window look sharp. Tinted glass also looks great, if you have it all around it makes people wonder what is going on inside. Also the 57-60 windshields are all the same. Good luck with the project and say hi to Reed....................

LMC has a listing that is reasonable but freight is high and they have the seals also. I think that my catalogue is out in the shop or I could look up the price and shipping for you. If you don't have a LMC catalogue, you need one. They have the best selection of parts for our old ford trucks.

Charlie: I don't know about the stainless trim installation on a 57 pickup windshield. But on a 57 car, as far as I know, the lower stainless is locked into the rubber seal & then the glass and all is installed. It's not done afterward. The rear window on a car is definitely done that way.

Paul, You are exactly right. Sorry if I wasn't clear in my first post. The glass man just didn't want to mess with it at the time because he said it took two experienced people to install it. I was in a hurry, as all racers are, and afterwards I liked the plain look better. Thanks for clearing it up. Bill, Sacramento Vintage Ford lists the glass for $275 and $48 for the seal plus shipping. I do not know the source my glass man used, but it was just his ordinary supplier and it only cost $150 for the glass and $30 for the seal. If your local glass dealer wants too much, let me know and I will track down the source from my end. Sometimes quality is the reason for the higher prices, but I am happy with mine.

Bill , I heard you & Reed were planning on doing a chop on that wicked truck of yours ??? Someone ( maybe one of those Canadians who were at Columbus )said it would lower your ET's buy at least 2 seconds ??? Be careful cutting that windshield ?? Regards Lon

Question; A chop, would that not take the truck out of "Production Pickup" class?

Paul, I run production pickup and if you were referring to landspeed racing, if I chopped the top it would throw me into some altered class. There are no chop tops allowed in any pickup class. If the "rumor" is true about Bill's truck, wouldn't that look awesome?

Charlie , You know the rules .?? If you don't hear a rumor by 10 am ,start one yourself. I was sure I would get a bite out of Rob ? Maybe he's not listening .It sure would look mean with a chop.It must be my Aussie sense of humor . Lon
