Hello Members. Have been looking for info about stock F-code drag cars. Read about (legal cheater). But I 'am curious why I didn't find any F-code TBirds that held any records. Seems like they should have advantage with Unique engine setback and underrated factory HP.

The "F" code retackables owned their class, other "F" code Fords were at disadvantage as they were put into classes with much lighter GM cars. (NHRA rules always favored GM cars). As for the "F" birds the Studeabaker Golden hawks were here nemesis. In late1957 Ford bought into the AMA ban plus Ford was always more interested in oval track performance.

It has really never ended. I went to the drag races in Virginia in 1969 with my 69 Ford Fairlane 428SCJ drag pack car. They put me in G stock for one weekend. I was up against a pro Olds out of Alexandria and beat him badly. He said he missed a gear but I doubt it. The next week I was in F stock. Claimed they had made a mistake although the rule book said I was in G. They moved me from a class where I could win to a class where I could barely hang on against the sponsored cars.
