I came across two verified 292 HD truck engines in a salvage yard in rural Colorado east of the front range. The engines have not been pulled and are still in the trucks. Is there any interest in some of the parts? These include the following: CITE steel forged crankshafts (two) The C2AE blocks (two) The one remaining ECZ-9425-B intake is already spoken for. And then there’s the HD connecting rods and cylinder heads with sodium filled exhaust valves. Factors to consider on whether this is worthwhile is the four hour round trip travel time from Denver and the effort to pull the engines themselves. It’s just me and the yard owner and we’re not young. I scouted the yard about a week ago for y-block parts and spent half a day out there. There are lots of late 50s Ford cars and a number of Ford pickups up to 64. I have no need for a steel forged crankshaft for my planned 292 street build. Your thoughts and feedback are appreciated. I have already run this by Ted Eaton who graciously responded with his expert knowledge.

Interesting find, but logistics is a problem. I'm sure that someone will be willing to pay shipping costs for the steel cranks.

I will be out there again soon, regardless. The yard owner and I retrieved a derelict 1960 vintage Higgins speedboat with a y-block marine motor. It’s an odd collection of components: an ECG Dearborn 272 block from ‘55 - ‘57, what looks like ECZ-G heads and an C0AE-9425-F two bbl intake (1960 vintage). Not a Ford Marine Interceptor set up. Exhaust manifolds are Glenwood and it has just a regular oil pan, not aluminum.

That '59 Ranchero sure looks interesting. Is it restorable? Does it have all of the Ranchero stainless trim around the rear window and bed? Price?

I can check on the condition when I’m back out there and take more pictures. The blue and white tail gate was solid. And the stainless on another Ranchero was near perfect around the bed, no drilled holes etc. The upper corner pieces by the back window are not stainless, just plated metal. There’s a number of 59s out there to pick parts from. I will check on price. The owner knows what he has and it wouldn’t be cheap.

I know I am late to the table but did the trucks have a Clark 5 speed OD attached to the Y block? I have been looking a long time for one for my 60 4x4 3/4 ton.

Do you have a case marking number, like maybe C5TC? That might help. The yard owner's name is Jim Donnelly. He can be reached via landline with voice mail and also email. He does not text. Email: simlasalvage@msn.com, Landline: 303-798-6304

Thank you Blindwillie. Number stamped on case is 224716. It has a painted marking in yellow 5TAK for 59’s and C5TB or 5T1B for 60-63’s. Was used for 292’s. Thank you for the name of the outfit. I might give him a call.
