Anyone know anything about these? What the numbers mean (code). Any one have one of these on their engine? It's the round thing in the pic with the # 265 on it.

One of those unsolved mysteries. I remember seeing one of those paper tags on my Dad's brand new 57 Mercury and have heard them referred to as Cleveland foundry tags. But in the above link, Ted mentions the tag on his 55 wagon and I believe the early blocks were cast at the Dearborn casting center. There are a couple sources offering reproductions but those have different script. Maybe the reproduced tags have the Cleveland script and the plain numbered tags as pictured above are from Dearborn?? Anyone here a member in the T-bird club?

I had one of those engine tags on my low mileage '54 239 in my Skyliner built in L.A. Ford plant. None of my other Y-Blocks had one.

From my Facebook query, Facebooker send me a sheet on 57 Merc's. . The numbers/letters indicate the following: Cubic inch Power Booster Fan ????? (Yes/No) Carb Tachometer (yes/No) Transmission Type Rocker Arm Color (Actually color of rocker cover I think unless the rockers are color coded some way))
I'd post it, but the copy is not that clear so I don't know if it would be legible if posted. Still looking for 56 Fords, specifically TBirds and hopefully a chart like the Merc's
