I have to replace Intake Gaskets. Any Tips on getting good results? Sealants etc. Got a Coolant leak.Thanks!

I did it once on a Y block 20 years ago...I do not recall using any sealants but my memory may be incorrect...
What DID happen to me was that I stuffed a couple of shop rags in the coolant passages in the front of each head so that junk didn't end up getting in there...I incidentally pushed one of them into the head and freaked out...I was able to fish it out with long needle nose pliers, but something to look out for. Use a big enough clean rag that it won't fall in.

Use some RTV or other sealant on the water passages. Otherwise, you usually do not need anything else.

You may want to consider the intake gaskets listed for a truck. They have restricted exhaust passages with metal. It’s a good time to check the exhaust crossover flapper on the passenger side. In SoCal it’s not needed so I wired mine open and at a later time I needed to remove the cylinder heads so I replaced it with a spacer from one of the y-block suppliers.

I made a couple of block offs from Tin. No heat riser valve. Put a blank spacer Plate instead. Thanks
