My mechanic said some of the push rods were not straight and need replacement. I'm finding MPR 80 is what I need. One ad on ebay is selling rods for a Ford fe engine that uses those same push rods. I'm trying to verify that these are ok for my engine, a 317 y block. The price for a complete set of 16 is the same price as what some people are selling one for. Curious

Contact Smith Push Rods in Oregon. You can send one to them in a padded envelope and have them make just what you need.

Some of the aftermarket push rods have a cup that is too small for the stock adjuster ball.

The ad says they're for Ford FE engines, Ford 390 360 352 427 428 330 332 361 389 FE Push Rod Set 16 Pushrods Adjustable. says they're MPR 80 which is the same number as the ones for my car. Just want to make sure before I buy. If anyone has a way to check these out, I'd appreciate it. I'm going to try to copy the ad.

An older parts manual I have here lists the LYB pushrods for the ’52-’55 LYB engines as being 9.672” long. With the EBay pushrods being advertised as being 9.602” long, that's close enough assuming the measurement method is the same for both. You might try measuring one of your original pushrods and see how those measurements compare as the overall length versus effective length will vary.

Get yourself an adjustable pushrod and find the exact length for good valve geometry, then order a set with the proper size ball and cup.. You want to get rid of those stock pushrods anyway.. They are more like nails than pushrods.. The later truck Lincoln Ys used tubular pushrods if you can find a set of those
