In Mummert's video on the rear main oil seal he said that if there was a leak while testing you could remove the seal retainer and re do it. Can you just clean everything well and re silicone everything or do you have to replace the side pieces and the rubber seal? Engine is in the car and I have the pan off, Not sure if I have a leak but thinking re sealing with Permetex right stuff black sealer might be a good idea.

I see no issue in removing the rear seal retainer and after thoroughly cleaning all the various parts, reinstalling the new but as yet unrun main seal and side seals.

I wasn't planning on replacing the seals. Just clean and use silicone on the side pieces. Maybe i best let well enough alone. Not really sure its leaking. Just thought it would be a good idea while its apart.

a lot of the time the oil leak is due to oil pan bolt holes have distorted the clamping, along with poor pan gaskets. my kit addresses this with thicker pan gasket,a plate to cover the thin part of the oil pon. the plate presses on the ridges of the pan. have pIctures if any 1 is interested ,just send me you email. anther source can be the greater oil pump if over torqued tends to leak at the gasket, and appears to be rear seal

I installed this kit. But have not run engine. My opinion is the kit is very well thought out, complete with hardware and instructions.
Yes pictures would help others
