YBlock 312 - in a 54 Ford (12V) Thinking of replacing my points with an Accel electronic setup (nothing against Pertronix). What Accel coil should I use with it? Presently running points with internal resister coil . Prefer black or chrome, don't like the yellow. Part number or specs appreciated.. Do you run a resister with the Accel setup? Thanks

Based on their instructions, the Accel points eliminator uses a straight 12 volts (no resistor or ballast wire). Their video recommends 8-12 volts at the coil. The recommended Accel coils are #8140 and 8140C which are rated at 1.4 ohms. Other suitable coils would be the Mallory #29219 or Jegs #40100. Typically recommended with those particular modules would be a voltage guard to protect the unit from electrical spikes in the system. The part number for that would be #29371.

I have run an ACCEL 2020 points eliminator kit and an ACCEL 8140 in my 1955 Ford (12 volts) for quite some time now and have experienced 0 issues. With the 8140 I do not have to run an external resistor. Here is a listing for that same coil but in chrome finish...
