Having decided to go with electric over who knows if it'll work chinese block mount.....do any of you have a recommendation on a reliable, quiet 12 volt pump?? .030 over 272 w/ Holley 390 cfm 4 bbl.Spreadbore, pretty much stock and not going to the strip, car is Country sedan 4 door. Also would like thoughts on if a regulator is needed with small 4-5 psi pump. Thanks

A Holley 390 will take 7 psi but advised to run at 5. 4-5 will be fine. Mount your pump on “lord” bushings or rubber on each side of the mounting bracket. I like a Carter for street use.

Electric pumps have had their share of problems, too, and many/most are made in China. The best advice I can give is go to a website, like Summit, and look at the reviews for different pumps, both electric and mechanical. Unfortunately, those reviews are usually posted soon after the purchase, sometimes before the pump has been installed. Longevity?

Whatever electric pump you choose, mount it close to the tank and as low as possible.

CASCO sells a USA rebuilt stock pump that works beautifully. They use a classic car fuel pump rebuilder in Pennsylvania, it’s pricey and there’s a $50 core charge but IMO worth it. It looked like new when I got it some 3000 miles ago, fits like a glove, not the slightest problem.

Chinese cores are not acceptable at CASCO. It has to be a USA, Canada or Mexico made unit. If you have one of these units, you're better off dollar wise sending it out yourself to get it rebuilt.

Carter electric is good. I've been using those for over 10 years on a year round daily driver. They were made in USA when I got them.
The Holley Red electrics were junk about 10 years ago.

If you want quiet, do not buy a vane style pump, which most of them are.. Look for a gerotor style. They are very quiet... Holly and Mallory both make a version
