I like the idea of an electric fuel pump to pull fuel to the mechanical pump priming the system
My question is will the mechanical pump pull fuel through the switched off electrical fuel pump
Thanks,
Richard

Yes.  Mine is installed on the frame under the doorway where the steel fuel lines join.  Removed the orig. fittings with a tubing cutter, and connected the pump with hose & clamps.

I have an electric pulse pump on my ’50 Ford with its original V8 just so I can prime the carburetor after the car sits for awhile.  That pump is normally turned off during normal operation and the car runs off of the factory mechanical pump.

On the other hand I have a Holley electric pump on another vehicle that is not a pulse pump but is instead is a positive displacement pump and that particular pump does restrict the flow to the mechanical pump if the electric pump is not turned on.

Not all the pumps are the same in that respect.  So be careful which one you purchase
